In the latest episode of the NETWise podcast, “Do Zebras Change Their Stripes?,” we delve into the constantly evolving diagnoses and tumor progression that comes with having neuroendocrine cancer.

We also unpack why the zebra became a symbol for this disease, what tumor heterogeneity means for patients, and how doctors use tools like DOTATATE PET and FDG PET scans to guide treatment decisions as things change.

We did it. 💙

Thanks to this incredible community, we've achieved our June match goal. Every eligible gift, up to $100,000, was matched dollar for dollar by NETRF Board member Steve Kaufer.

Thank you.

Now the real work continues.

Breakthroughs are not unlocked by chance. They happen when bold ideas meet focused investment, and when a community refuses to stop showing up.

If you haven’t made a gift yet this June, there is still time to join this remarkable effort. Every gift will help accelerate the research that brings us closer to earlier diagnosis, better treatments, and, one day, cures.

Every year, no matter where they are in the world, Wayne Firsty and his children Shay and Alana complete a Moonlight Walk in memory of Julie Seltzer-Firsty, whom they lost to lung neuroendocrine cancer in 2014.

For years, they've asked their community to support the walk as a fundraiser for NETRF, and every year their community has shown up. Together, their community reached an incredible milestone: funding a NETRF Mentored Research Award.

Recently, Wayne and Shay traveled to the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to meet the scientists their fundraising directly supports. They saw first-hand the work of Dr. Hui Yu and her team, who are studying DIPNECH, a rare lung condition that can progress into the same disease that took Julie.

"What was once a goal," Wayne said, "is now a REALITY."

Thanks to the incredible generosity of supporters like you, we've already reached our $100,000 June Match goal. We're deeply grateful to everyone who helped unlock those matching funds.

But the work isn’t over. Now is the time to keep this momentum going.

Make your gift today to unlock the next breakthroughs. ➡️ https://ow.ly/f8gJ50ZgxWE

The response to NETRF's latest grant cycle is extraordinary: applications from researchers around the world increased by 35%.

That’s more scientists pursuing new ideas, more promising discoveries in the pipeline and more potential breakthroughs for neuroendocrine cancer patients.

The momentum is here. But research that leads to breakthroughs requires funding. We need your support to meet the moment.

Through June 30, every gift up to $100,000 is matched by Board member Steve Kaufer.*
