This year has been a year of separation.
I choose to see it all for the better because as we separate from what is no longer in alignment, we create space for what is.
This isn’t just in relation to other humans, it also applies to things we chose to let go about ourselves, our habits, and our beliefs…
Today I’ve entered Day 36 of 100
DAYS OF ME—
It’s a self-created “challenge” and invitation to do something just for me and my joy for 100 days.
Day one looked like this: “Jan 25th- Stopped work early and ate French Cuisine with a friend. Ordered the damn mousse for dessert. Divine. Left smiling ear to ear.”
Day 10: “Feb 3- watched Parent Trap and sang to the soundtrack. Did 8 yr old me really proud.”
Some days are grand & led to amazing outcomes like the night I chased the sunset & discovered my next hometown…
(A wild story that played out a vision I had back in November. Remind me to tell you someday.)
And other days were small and uneventful. Like, “Stayed home, it’s okay to break a plan if you need to come back to you. Made tea. Cried. Made more tea and watched Encanto (so good).”
WHAT I’M LEARNING:
>>Choosing you doesn’t have to be a grand gesture.
>>It’s like dating You, in that you’re giving yourself small acts of love daily *alongside* the date nights and presents.
>>By focusing on what brings me joy, it’s also bringing awareness to the things that don’t.
>>I’m spending less time on social media and seeking external validation. I’m validating myself now. It’s a practice.
>>I’ve noticed that trying to follow “image/graphic/image” for IG is sucking the creative spark for me.
>>Some days the thought of making a graphic for my ADD brain feels like an unnecessary hurdle to jump.
>>I’d rather show up for you AND for me in this space by leaning into what brings me joy. Which will not follow a self imposed formula. Shucks. Life goes on. It’s okay.
What’s this have to do with a pear? One morning I had a beaten, bruised pear. I almost threw it away.
Then I shaved off the bruised bits and saw a delightful juicy pear. I ate it.
There’s an analogy in there somewhere.
What’s something you can do for you today?
