Back-to-school season is exciting, but it can also be a lot. Kids are settling into new routines, navigating friendships and figuring out who they're becoming, all while parents work to find their own rhythm again.

You don't have to navigate it alone. NAMI's back-to-school mental health resources can help your family feel supported through both the ups and downs of the school year.

For NAMI Wake County volunteer Eden Baylock, healing didn't happen overnight. It took years to understand her own mental health, and she says the turning point came when she reached out for support.

If you find yourself struggling, we encourage you to reach out. You are not alone.

National Wellness Month is here! We're sharing a few simple ways to check in with yourself this month.

๐Ÿ’š Step outside for 10 minutes today, even if it's just on your porch or a short walk around the block

๐Ÿ’š Name one thing you're feeling today, and don't judge yourself for it

๐Ÿ’š Take a second to text a friend or family member and say hi

๐Ÿ’š Put your phone in another room for an hour while doing a hobby or something you enjoy

๐Ÿ’š Take a five minute stretch break, then drink a glass of water

Wellness can look like many different things, but whatever it looks like for you, it matters! Tell us how you're practicing wellness this month in the comments below, and as always, visit our website at the link in our bio for more free mental health resources.

Is your back to school checklist missing something?

Supplies are important, but so is making sure your child has the mental wellness tools to handle the shift from summer to school routines! Our goal is for every family to feel prepared, not just with pencils and folders, but with strategies that support a smooth and successful transition.

"I no longer believe silence is the way to keep me safe."

NAMI Wake County volunteer Diya G. grew up believing that being mature meant needing less and feeling less. In a new blog post, she writes honestly about silence, family conflict and the long road to understanding her own mental health.

Meet Eden Baylock, a volunteer with our Ending the Silence program.

Growing up, Eden felt a constant sadness and worry she couldn't explain, and in her community, talking about mental health wasn't welcomed.

Everything changed when a psychology class in community college gave her the answers she'd been seeking. Today, Eden is pursuing a degree in clinical mental health counseling at NC State University while volunteering with Ending the Silence, presenting to students how she found hope and healing.

Trauma-sensitive yoga is back!

Held in partnership with the UNC Center for Excellence in Community Mental Health, our first eight-week series brought in 40 participants and left people asking for more. Now, certified instructor Megan Wheeler is returning for a new round of sessions running August through September.

Each class offers an hour to reconnect with your body and mind in a safe space with no experience necessary.
