Our Ophthalmic Technologists play an essential role in every patient’s visit, gathering the information that helps guide the examination and the decisions that follow.
They listen to your concerns and changes in vision. They review your medical history and medications. They evaluate how clearly you see and, depending on your needs, perform additional testing such as refraction, imaging, eye pressure measurements, and dilation.
For patients being evaluated for cataracts, this process goes well beyond determining whether a cataract is present.
Specialized testing can reveal important details about the cornea, astigmatism, retina, and optic nerve. When surgery is being considered, precise measurements also help guide surgical planning.
By the time Dr. Tokuhara enters the exam room, much of the groundwork has already been laid, allowing him to focus on interpreting the findings, examining your eyes, and discussing the best path forward.
