Two days after my second chemo treatment, I climbed on my Harley Freewheeler. Some people would look at that and think, “She just went for a motorcycle ride.” But for me… it’s so much more than that.
I may be fighting cancer, but when I’m sitting on my Harley, riding those country roads with the wind hitting my face and my favorite music playing, for a little while I’m not thinking about chemo. I’m not thinking about cancer. I’m just me.
And somewhere along those roads, between the music, the wind, and the quiet, I talk to God. Sometimes I pray. Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I just thank Him for giving me another day to feel that wind on my face.
Saturday was HOT, and probably not a good call two days after chemo, cuz it definitely kicked my butt. 😂 But I wouldn’t trade that ride for anything.
I also had the absolute privilege of riding with some incredible men and women of faith. As long as I am physically able, I will never turn down an opportunity to ride beside people who lift me up, pray for me, and remind me that God is still in control.
Cancer may be in my body, but it does not own my spirit.
So as long as this body will let me…
I’ll keep climbing on my Harley.
I’ll keep chasing those country roads.
I’ll keep talking to God.
And I’ll keep getting my Wind Therapy.
Because cancer has changed a lot of things in my life…but it will NOT take away the things that make my soul feel alive.
