There's something quietly special about linden (Tillia spp.)
For generations, the fragrant blossoms of the linden tree have been gathered throughout China, Europe and North America for teas and traditional herbal preparations. I have come to love them just as much in skincare, where they leave the skin feeling beautifully soft, refreshed, and comforted.
My own connection to linden began more than 20 years ago while I was studying abroad at Xiamen University in Xiamen, Fujian Province, China. Without realizing it, I was introduced to linden through a popular bottled tea. It wasn't until decades later, when I began enjoying linden as an herbal tea (one of the first botanicals I began working with), that I recognized the sweet, familiar fragrance. In an instant, I was transported back to my time in China. It's amazing how a single botanical can carry a memory across decades.
That appreciation inspired this newest small batch: a linden flower and leaf witch hazel botanical toner. Naturally rich in plant mucilage and botanical antioxidants, linden is treasured for leaving skin feeling soft, refreshed, comfortably hydrated, and beautifully conditioned.
Each of our botanical toners has its own personality:
🌹 Rose — tone and radiance.
🌼 Calendula — nourishment and renewal.
🤍 Chamomile — gentle comfort.
🌿 Linden — softness and hydration.
There isn't one that's "better" than another—they simply celebrate different botanicals and the unique character each brings to your skincare routine.
Today marks the debut of this botanical toner.
If you're stopping by a market this week or weekend, I'd love to introduce you to linden.
Whether you're drawn to rose for toning and radiance, calendula for nourishment, chamomile for gentle comfort, or linden for softness and hydration, there's a botanical waiting to become part of your skincare ritual.
What scent(s) have you experienced that instantly brought back a cherished memory?
