One of my favorite feelings in the gym is hitting true failure.
That last rep where you’re pushing as hard as you can and your body is just like, “Yeah… we’re done.”
I love it.
A lot of people grab the same weights every week because they know they can get 12 reps. But if you’re breezing through 12 reps and could’ve done 3 or 4 more, you’re probably stronger than you’re giving yourself credit for.
Grab the heavier dumbbells.
If you’re failing around 8 reps with good form, you’re putting enough stress on the muscle to tell your body it needs to adapt and get stronger. That’s how you build muscle. That’s how you change your body.
You don’t grow by staying comfortable.
Next time you’re in the gym, don’t be afraid to pick up the weight that makes you a little nervous. You might surprise yourself.
If you’re tired of guessing what weights to use, what to eat, or how to actually get results, comment COACH and I’ll reach out to see if my coaching program is a good fit for you.
