Rochester Flyers - Special Olympics Team

Rochester Flyers - Special Olympics Team The Rochester Flyers (MN) is open to individuals age 8 + who are considered to have an intellectual disability or closely related developmental disability.

The Rochester Flyers is an all-volunteer organization serving athletes in the greater Rochester, Minnesota area. We request a nominal fee to participate in each sport ($20/athlete). Sports seasons follow Special Olympics Minnesota Schedule. Estimated seasons are listed below, with approximately 8-10 weeks of practice per season. Jan-March: Aquatics, Basketball (Full, Half Court, individual skills)


April-June: Track
June-August: Bocce, Softball, Golf
Sept-Nov: Bowling, Flag Football (New 2015)
Nov-January: Poly Hockey

Unified opportunities are offered in golf, track, bocce and flag football. Please contact us for more details on Unified Sports. Volunteers are always welcome and needed - positions include "day of events" to assist at competitions, assistant coaches for many of the sports, community events, and also positions on the local sports management team that provides administrative, fiscal, and policy management for The Rochester Flyers.

Congratulations to Flyers swimmer Stephanie! 🎉

Stephanie has been selected to compete at the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, and we couldn’t be more proud! Her hard work, dedication, and determination have earned her this incredible opportunity to represent our program on the national stage. 🇺🇸

Are you ready to start celebrating the 2026 USA Special Olympics Games?

There is less than a week from the Final Leg of the Torch Run event. The local Rochester Flyers Special Olympics team is inviting you to join them in celebrating on Thursday, June 18th at Soldiers Field Memorial Park. PossAbilities will also be there celebrating and welcoming the runners, so come on down and join us! Wear your Flyers or PossAbilities gear to show your support.

There will also be a t-shirt fundraiser ($20 each). The t-shirts commemorate Sergeant Beverly Rodrguez who passed away last year off duty from the Metro Transit Police Department and a long time Torch Runner.
