Kindred Connection Kindred Connection was created from the vision of two women to serve the perinatal community. You have a place here. Learn more at kindredconnection.org

Kindred Connection Network is a Rochester, NY 501(c)(3) nonprofit rebuilding the village for the perinatal community. Mission: To rebuild the village for the perinatal community by connecting families to the support they need while nurturing the professionals who serve them. Vision: To be the central hub of perinatal and early parenting services in Rochester, and a model other communities replicate. We support women, birthing persons, and non-birthing partners from family planning through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early parenting. Our Affiliates are independent perinatal professionals, including mental health providers, pelvic floor physical therapists, doulas, childbirth educators, lactation consultants, and dietitians, who share one community and one goal. Our values:

Inclusivity - We strive to provide a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ & TGNB community, BIPOC community, people with disabilities, individuals of all body types, and we respect all religious and spiritual beliefs. Advocacy - We empower families to advocate for themselves and stand for those who are not heard. We support better communication and speak out against hate. Informed Choice - We provide up-to-date information and education, and we respect every family's right to make their own healthcare choices.

Yesterday at the Willow Center Summit!

Perinatal mental health conditions are the most common complication of pregnancy and childbirth. 1 in 8 women report postpartum depression symptoms. 1 in 5 meet criteria for an anxiety disorder.

our session was about what happens after a screening, and how one warm handoff can change a family’s path.

Thank you to Willow Center for the invitation, and to everyone who joined us.

A change to Postpartum Together: we're moving to Thursdays!

If you've been coming on Tuesday mornings, you'll notice a few updates. The group now meets Thursdays at 10:00 AM, registration is required ahead of time, and we're moving to six-week blocks instead of open, ongoing sessions. The first block starts next Thursday.

Postpartum Together is a NON-CLINICAL support group for caregivers and their babies in the first year. Talk openly about the emotional side of life after birth, with real conversation, gentle support, and people who get it. Babies are welcome.

Thursdays, October 15 – November 19
10:00 AM
1815 S. Clinton Ave, Suite 435, Rochester
$5 per session (Venmo or cash). No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
Led by Jenna Stegen-Hine, LCSW and Paula Smith, MSW Intern

The newborn groups have ended, but the hard parts haven’t. Back to work, pumping, childcare, sleep regressions, big toddler feelings, and a body and mind still healing.

✨ We are so excited to officially welcome Vanessa Samson, LMFT to Kindred Connection ✨

I am a marriage and family therapist that offers unique, grounded, and collaborative therapy to help individuals and couples cope with life transitions, shift perspectives, and strengthen relationships. I specialize in perinatal mental health, trauma, parenting, and couples therapy. Early in my career, I trained deeply in the psychology of mothers and infants, and saw firsthand how little support exists for people navigating major life shifts like parenthood.
