Monroe Community Hospital is one of the largest and oldest skilled nursing facilities in the country.

We are committed to providing quality long-term and rehabilitation care to individuals with complex and chronic health conditions. MCH has grown to become one of the largest and most comprehensive skilled nursing facilities in New York State, providing quality long-term care to more than 566 individuals with complex or chronic health conditions. We are home to residents of all ages, from infants a

s young as eight weeks to adults more than one hundred years old. Approximately one quarter of our residents are under the age of 65. In addition, Monroe Community Hospital is the only facility in the region which provides long-term care for children.

As we continue to celebrate 200 years of caring, we honor the vision and commitment that helped shape MCH into the resource it is today.

In 1929, Monroe County took a major step toward the future by hiring Rochester architect Sigmund Firestone to design a new facility for the growing number of long-term and chronic care patients.

Built on former farmland along East Henrietta Road, the new home laid the foundation for what Monroe Community Hospital would become.

Volunteers help make MCH feel like home. From providing companionship and transportation to supporting activities, events and pastoral care, their time and dedication bring comfort, connection and joy to our residents every day.

One of those volunteers is Mike, who has dedicated 11 years and about 10 hours each week to serving at MCH. “I feel like we should be helping each other,” Mike said. “This is a way of giving back. It gives me joy and comfort helping in a volunteer capacity.”

A huge thank you to the 16 volunteers from Paychex's HR Solutions Inside Sales Hub who spent their Day of Caring at MCH helping beautify our campus!

From planting flowers and spreading mulch to raking and cleanup, their hard work helped get our grounds ready for summer. We appreciate your time, energy, and community spirit!
