This is the blog I have spent a long time trying to find the words for.
What I once called burnout, I now understand was something deeper. Moral injury is what happens when the work you are asked to do quietly violates what you know is right. It is not depletion. It is grief.
Luther Psychiatry was built out of that grief.
A practice unhurried enough to actually see the person in front of me.
The golden rule, operationalized into a calendar. Care given the way I would want my own family cared for.
We are meant to look after one another. That is the whole assignment. The systems around us often will not let us, and the cost of that, for women especially, is a kind of tiredness that no rest can reach.
If this lands somewhere in you, I hope you will give yourself the same softness you give everyone else this week.
And I hope you will look around at one woman near you who is holding too much, and let her know she is seen.🌸
