We have been notified of incidents involving patients receiving unexpected phone calls that appeared to come from a MaineHealth phone number. The callers used a tactic known as caller ID spoofing to make the call look legitimate while attempting to sell a "flex plan."

If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.

Please use caution when receiving unexpected calls, texts, or messages claiming to be from MaineHealth. If someone unexpectedly requests personal, financial, or health information and you are unsure whether the communication is legitimate, do not provide any information. Instead, hang up and contact your primary care provider or MaineHealth Patient Financial Services directly using a trusted phone number to verify the request.

BEAR SIGHTING

We've received reports of a bear sighting on the Wellness Trail. While bear encounters are uncommon, we want to remind everyone to use extra caution if you plan to use the trail.

For your safety:
• Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.
• Keep children close and pets on a leash.
• Make noise while walking or hiking to avoid surprising wildlife.
• Do not approach or feed the bear if you see it.
• If you encounter a bear, remain calm, back away slowly, and give it plenty of space.

Please help keep our community safe by sharing this information with family and friends who use the trail.

Thank you for helping keep our trails safe for everyone.
