We have been notified of incidents involving patients receiving unexpected phone calls that appeared to come from a MaineHealth phone number. The callers used a tactic known as caller ID spoofing to make the call look legitimate while attempting to sell a "flex plan."
If you receive a call like this, hang up immediately and report the incident to your local law enforcement agency.
Please use caution when receiving unexpected calls, texts, or messages claiming to be from MaineHealth. If someone unexpectedly requests personal, financial, or health information and you are unsure whether the communication is legitimate, do not provide any information. Instead, hang up and contact your primary care provider or MaineHealth Patient Financial Services directly using a trusted phone number to verify the request.
