REMINDER PARENTS AND GUARDIANS:

You may have seen our school vaccine clinic information already or received a flyer from your child's school, but as October gets closer, we wanted to send out another reminder to get those consent forms submitted!

One quick form now = one less appointment to squeeze into your busy schedule later! Spencer County Health Department will be visiting area schools throughout October, making it easy for students to receive needed vaccines right at school during the school day.

If you would like your child to participate, please submit their consent form at least ONE WEEK before their school’s clinic date. This gives our nurses time to review forms, check immunization records, and make sure we have the correct vaccines and supplies ready for each student.

Good Morning, Spencer County!

The Fall 2026 School Vaccine Clinics will be here before you know it! Do not let those consent form due dates sneak up on you!

Just a reminder to submit your child's/children's Vaccine Consent form through Google forms AT LEAST ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THEIR SCHEDULED CLINIC DATE so that our team has plenty of time to review records and prepare for our clinic days.

Also, please only complete a Google Form if you would like your child/children to receive vaccines provided at the schools by the Spencer County Health Department. If you do not wish for your child/children to be vaccinated at these clinics, no form is needed!

With that said, get those forms in early and help us make the 2026 Fall School Vaccine Clinics smooth! Please share with anyone you know that may benefit from these services!

This year, we are excited to offer a new online consent form through Google Forms. Parents and guardians can simply scan the QR code on the flyer sent home with their student or use the QR code or link provided below to complete the consent form online.

For families who do not have access to a smartphone, computer, or internet, a limited number of paper consent forms will be available in the front office of each school or by reaching out to the Spencer County Health Department.

A completed consent form is required for each child to receive vaccines during the clinic. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our August Dale Vaccine Clinic! We loved seeing so many familiar and new faces, and we're grateful to everyone who chose to protect themselves, their families, and our community. Your support continues to make these monthly clinics a success!

LAST REMINDER!

We are less than a week from our August Dale Vaccination Clinic! We are there to provide vaccines and/or TB skin tests for all ages! If you or anyone you know lives in the Northern part of Spencer County and needs to get caught up on vaccines, WE STILL HAVE 4 OPENINGS! Call the Spencer County Health Department at (812) 649-4441 to reserve your appointment!

As always, you can make appointment for vaccines, TB skin tests, and much more at the Rockport Office Monday-Friday (excluding Thursdays for TB skin tests) if you live in the Southern part of the county if or if you miss any of the monthly Dale clinics!

Happy Independence Day from the Spencer County Health Department!

Please note that our office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd, in observance of Independence Day. We will reopen and resume normal hours on Monday, July 6th.

As our community gathers to celebrate with cookouts, fireworks, parades, and time with loved ones, we encourage everyone to keep health and safety in mind so that the holiday weekend is memorable for all the right reasons.

A few simple reminders:
- Stay hydrated and take breaks from the summer heat.
- Wear sunscreen and reapply throughout the day, especially if you're spending time outdoors.
- Keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold to prevent foodborne illness.
- Leave fireworks to responsible adults and keep children at a safe distance, even sparks and cause serious burns.
- Always buckle up, drive safely, and designate a sober driver if your plans include alcohol.
- If you're enjoying time on the water, wear a life jacket and keep a close eye on children.

We are thankful for the opportunity to serve the residents of Spencer County and appreciate all that our community does to promote health, safety, and well-being year-round. We hope this holiday brings you time to relax, reconnect, and create lasting memories with your family and friends.

The back-to-school countdown is on! School will be back in session before we know it, and now is the perfect time to check those vaccine records and avoid that last-minute rush!

Join the Spencer County Health Department at the Dale Public Library on Wednesday August 5th, from 9am to 12pm for our monthly immunization clinic. We provide school required vaccines, routine childhood immunizations, and recommended vaccines for adults of all ages.

NEW THIS MONTH: We will also be offering TB skin tests during the Dale vaccine clinic. Perfect for students, employees, volunteers, or anyone needing testing for work or school requirements. Contact the Spencer County Health Department to inquire about this service and to get on our schedule!

We are back again for our final National Safety Month Topic: Falls Aren't Just for Older Adults

When you hear "fall prevention," you probably picture someone much older. But the truth is...anyone can take an unexpected tumble.

It only takes one:
- Curled-up rug
- Extension cords
- Dog under your feet
- Garden hose across the sidewalk
- Missed Step

Sound familiar?

The good news is that many falls are preventable with just a few simple habits.
✅Keep walkways clear of clutter
✅Secure loose rugs or remove them altogether
✅Coil up extension cords and hoses when you're finished
✅Use handrails on stairs whenever possible
✅Turn on lights instead of trying to navigate in the dark

And let be honest...we've all confidently said "I got it!" right before tumbling to the ground. Taking a few minutes to look for trip hazards around your home can help prevent injuries for everyone from toddlers to grandparents.

Sometimes the biggest safety improvements can come from the smallest changes.
