A special message from the Bill and Maria Kaparos Family:
A few weeks ago several friends of Bessie's and ours, approached our family with the selfless request of wanting to do "something" for her, to help Bessie during her battle against Cancer. We were deeply touched to learn that our loving friends wanted to host a fundraiser event to help raise money for our sister. But never in all our dreams could we anticipated what was to happen next.
In a few short days, we were dumbfounded to learn that not only did Friends of Bessie unite to host a beautiful and touching even, but so many countless loved ones and their friends, would emerge from all corners of the world, and come together to support our sister. Amazingly, not in any of the languages we speak, can we find the words to express our gratitude. We have found ourselves speechless with an overwhelming flood of emotions. How could we ever put into words, the love one feels when arms are outstretched with support? How can anyone describe the strength that only tears can provide? What person can ever explain how one's strength diminishes only to be rebuilt by the outpouring of emails, letters, calls and selfless donations. But today, we have realized our desire to express our gratitude, and searching desperately for the words to embody.
Cancer is not an easy thing to live with, Bessie's journey as been no exception. Over the years, it has been tough road for her, and we have all tried to provide her with love and support that family can. But in recent years the struggle has increased, and the strength and will have begun to weaken. The fears and worries have taken their toll; not only of the mind and the body, but also of the soul. How can anyone continue the fight and sustain the will to do so? I don't know how so many who fight this battle find their answer to this question. But I will tell you, our family found our answer in the evening " Friends of Bessie" get together. My sisters and I began to realize, that your will and strength don't just come within, but from with-"out". It comes from the love and support you receive. It comes from the tears that are shed, and the prayers that are said for you. It comes from the will from others; the will to see you again, to know that when you think your will has weakened, your loved ones will be there to help carry the burden of your fears. We have been humbled to learn, that the will to sustain the will to fight, comes from the love, the support and the faith from all those that surround you.
Our family can never express how you've all reenergized us. We can never explain how your support has breathed a new breath of fresh air, and new life into not just Bessie, but all of us. One night of extreme love and support has transferred into so many more for Bessie and for our family. She has been surged with a new found strength from the outpouring of your love and support, and we all bask in her new energy.
If ever there were two words that could embody all this, let it be "thank you" and know that it could only be portrayed as the very "tip of the iceberg" of the gratitude we have for the blessing of having all of you in our lives.
This Thanksgiving as we are thankful for everyone in our lives, we especially thank our beautiful Mother, without her we would not be here. She is our strength, the rock that hold us together and our father proudly watching over us.
