This is a gelding I worked on last October. He was very communicative about where I needed to stop and apply pressure on his rib cage. His intercostals were a bit sore where they overlap and intersect with the rhomboids, latissimus dorsi, and his obliques but he did a wonderful job self regulating and allowing me to continue.

Plus, who doesn’t love a curly haired horse?! 🐴

My favorite part of the job is communication 💚

Here you can see a mare tell me exactly where she needs my help and for how long.

Horses use body language to communicate needs, boundaries, and opinions. It’s my job to listen, provide support where needed, and respect their limitations. I’m constantly scanning their ears, eyes, breathing, and tail movements for any indication of what they want and need (or don’t). I work within their means to build trust and show them “I see you, I hear you, and I respect you.”

Tara had a muscle spasm in her shoulder and signaled me to focus on that spot. When I started working, she had a big release in her neck and once she was done, she asked me to stop. I gave her space to process and I think she agrees that it was a big release. I love interactions like this one! 🐎💚

Wow! What an amazing event!✨

Thank you for hosting the 12th Annual Equine Health Fair 🐴 and allowing Bales Bodywork to participate as a vendor.

I really enjoyed meeting and talking with all the horse lovers in the area, answering their questions, and providing a brief demonstration on cupping and TENS 7000 therapy. I’m very thankful for this opportunity and hope to participate next year!

A very big thank you to and for helping me prepare, set up, break down, and man the booth! I couldn’t have done it without you both! I love and appreciate you wonderful ladies 💚
