Driving Readiness in Neurodiverse Young Adults

Exciting News from Adaptable Driving!
Julia McVicker, MS, OTR/L, DRP is thrilled to announce that Adaptable Driving is now the exclusive Georgia provider of the Neurodiverse Driving Simulator, developed by the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation at Vanderbilt University.

This innovative simulator is designed to support neurodiverse individuals as they build the skills and confidence needed for safe, independent driving. Adaptable Driving team is honored to bring this cutting-edge technology to Georgia and look forward to helping more drivers achieve their goals.

Be the first in Georgia to learn more about this innovative simulator by attending our GANCC event at Adaptable Driving for our September networking event.

Julia is the owner and Driving Rehabilitation Professional and an Occupational Therapist. She explores current research, evidence-based tools, and practical strategies that help individuals develop the skills and confidence needed to pursue driving. She will discuss how to determine the right timing, pace, and pathway for each person's unique needs and goals.

Participants will learn about Adaptable Driving's comprehensive approach, which combines online learning for home study, community-based driving simulation, and individualized driving evaluations and training. As she examines how this model supports neurodiverse individuals in building driving skills, GANCC attendees will learn more about how she promotes safety, independence, and self-determination with new neurodivergent drivers as they gain more independence!

Behind so much of what you see on our social media is Christine McVicker, our Social Media Coordinator & Graphic Content Assistant!

Christine is a senior in high school with plans to pursue higher education. Her interests span the arts and athletics—she’s passionate about theatre and orchestra and is currently a varsity-level swimmer. 🎭🎻🏊‍♀️

If you’ve seen it on our page, there’s a good chance Christine has had a hand in creating it! From graphics and social media content to helping bring our ideas to life, her creativity, enthusiasm, and fresh perspective have become an important part of how we share the Adaptable message.

🌟 Employee Spotlight: Welcome, Izzie! 🌟

Please join us in welcoming Izzie Atkinson, OTD, OTR/L to the Adaptable Driving team!

Izzie is helping us develop and run our new driver program, with a special emphasis on our driving simulator and its role in helping clients build confidence and skills behind the wheel.

Izzie earned her doctorate from Georgia State University and also practices part-time at the Clinic for the Visually Impaired, where she specializes in low-vision rehabilitation. Her expertise and passion for helping people maintain independence make her a fantastic addition to our team. 🚗💙

We’re excited to have Izzie on board and look forward to all that she’ll bring to our growing driver program!

🚗 Exciting News from Adaptable Driving!

We are proud to announce that Adaptable Driving is the first provider in Georgia to offer the SANDI Driver Readiness Platform for neurodiverse individuals.

Developed through years of research at Vanderbilt University and supported by the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation (FCAI), SANDI is now being commercialized by Neurodiverse Technologies Inc. to bring this evidence-based technology to communities across the country.

SANDI helps autistic individuals, people with ADHD, and others experiencing driving anxiety build the skills, confidence, and readiness needed before getting behind the wheel in a safe, supportive learning environment.

We are excited to bring this innovative driver readiness platform to Georgia and look forward to helping more individuals achieve greater independence through safe driving.
