Here I Am
Here I am.
Not forever.
Just… here.
And so are you.
Out of billions of years behind us, and billions yet to come, somehow our lives crossed for this brief moment in time.
Neither of us asked to be here.
Neither of us gets to stay.
Somewhere between those two mysteries…
we met.
We spend so much of life chasing permanence.
Wanting to be remembered.
Wanting one more tomorrow.
But maybe permanence was never the miracle.
Maybe the miracle is that any of this happened at all.
Life doesn’t move in straight lines.
It moves in waves.
Every hello contains a goodbye.
Every sunrise is already becoming a sunset.
Every “Here I am” is becoming “Here I was.”
We resist that polarity.
We want only the crest.
Only beginnings.
Only arrival.
But a wave with no fall isn’t a wave.
It’s a straight line.
A wave isn’t beautiful because it refuses to fall.
It’s beautiful because it rises at all.
Impermanence doesn’t create meaning.
It reveals it.
Your child’s laughter.
A hand held in silence.
A sunrise you almost missed.
A conversation that quietly changed you.
Two temporary lives leaving ripples in each other that continue long after they’re gone.
Here I am.
Here you are.
And somehow…
here we are.
Already becoming…
here we were.
But not yet.
Right now, the wave is still rising.
And I can’t think of anything more extraordinary than that.
We Come In Waves.
