💳🩺 Your Doctor Doesn’t Set Your Copay

Getting a copay bill can be frustrating—but many patients are surprised to learn that doctors usually do not decide how much your copay is.

💡 Copays, deductibles, and coinsurance are determined by your insurance plan, not your healthcare provider.

In many cases, clinics and doctors are contractually required by insurance companies to collect these fees.

⚠️ This means your doctor’s office often has little to no control over:
• Copay amounts
• Deductibles
• Coverage decisions
• Prior authorizations

🧠 Healthcare providers focus on delivering care, while insurance companies determine many of the financial rules behind coverage.

✨ Understanding how your insurance works can help avoid surprises and make it easier to navigate your healthcare costs.

💙 We know medical bills can be stressful, and our team is always happy to help explain your benefits as best we can.

🦠 Fungal Infections: More Common Than You Think

Fungal infections are common and can affect the skin, nails, mouth, and other areas of the body.

⚠️ Common signs may include:
• Itching or burning
• Redness or rash
• Peeling or cracked skin
• Thick or discolored nails 💅
• White patches in the mouth 👅

💡 Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments—which is why infections often occur on the feet, groin, skin folds, and nails.

✨ To help reduce your risk:
• Keep skin clean and dry 🧼
• Change out of sweaty clothes promptly
• Avoid sharing towels or personal items
• Wear breathable footwear 👟

🧠 While many fungal infections are mild, some may require treatment to prevent them from spreading or recurring.

💙 If symptoms persist or keep coming back, it may be time to get checked.

🚨🫁 Do You Know the Proper Way to Help Someone Who Is Choking?

A choking emergency can become life-threatening in seconds. Knowing what to do could save a life.

⚠️ Signs of severe choking:
• Unable to speak
• Unable to cough
• Unable to breathe
• Hands clutching the throat
• Turning blue or losing consciousness

💡 If the person cannot cough, speak, or breathe:
➡️ Call 911 or have someone call
➡️ Give firm back blows between the shoulder blades
➡️ If needed, perform abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver) in adults and children over 1 year old
➡️ Continue until the object is expelled or emergency help arrives

🧠 If the person can still cough or speak, encourage them to keep coughing and do not interfere.

✨ The best time to learn choking rescue techniques is before you ever need them.

💙 A few minutes of training could one day save a family member, friend, or stranger.

🛏️👀 Why Do You Get Hungry the Second You Get Into Bed?

You survived the whole day...

Then the moment your head hits the pillow, your brain suddenly remembers:
🍕 Pizza exists.
🍪 Cookies are in the pantry.
🍦 Ice cream is waiting for you.

😭 Sound familiar?

💡 Sometimes it’s real hunger. Other times, it may be habit, boredom, stress, staying up too late, or not eating enough during the day.

🧠 If bedtime hunger is a regular thing, ask yourself:
• Did I eat enough protein today? 🍗
• Did I get enough fiber? 🥗
• Did I skip meals? ⏰
• Am I actually hungry... or just tired?

✨ Understanding your hunger cues can help you make choices that support your health goals without feeling deprived.

🦟⚠️ Tick Season Is Here—And It’s Starting Earlier Than Usual

If you’re spending time outdoors, don’t forget to protect yourself from ticks.

💡 Tick-borne illnesses have been increasing, making prevention more important than ever.

✅ Wear long sleeves and pants when hiking or spending time in grassy areas
✅ Use EPA-approved repellents such as DEET or picaridin
✅ Check your scalp, behind your ears, underarms, waistband, and groin after being outdoors
✅ Shower or bathe soon after coming inside

⚠️ After a tick bite, watch for:
🤒 Fever or chills
🤕 Headache
😴 Fatigue
💪 Muscle aches
🎯 A rash, including a bullseye-shaped rash

🧠 The sooner a tick is found and removed, the lower the risk of disease transmission.

💙 A quick tick check today could save you a lot of trouble later.

⚠️ Why You Should Never Mess With Moles

Moles might seem harmless—or you may be tempted to pick, scratch, or remove them at home—but this can be risky.

💡 Here’s why:
• Messing with moles can lead to infection 🦠
• It may cause scarring or delayed healing ✨
• Some moles can be an early sign of skin cancer 🩺

🧠 The safest approach is to monitor changes in your moles and see a healthcare professional if you notice:
• Rapid growth
• Irregular borders
• Color changes
• Bleeding or itching

💙 Early evaluation can prevent complications and catch serious conditions early.

😂🩺 POV: You’re Trying to Be Friendly, But Your Patient Woke Up on the Wrong Side of the Bed

Some patients arrive with a fever.
Some arrive with a cough.
And some arrive with an attitude that could lower the room temperature by 10 degrees. ❄️😂

💡 Believe it or not, being sick, stressed, sleep-deprived, or in pain can affect a person’s mood more than they realize.

🧠 When we’re not feeling our best physically, we’re often not feeling our best emotionally either.

✨ That’s why healthcare is about more than treating symptoms—it’s also about understanding what people may be going through.

💙 A little patience, kindness, and empathy can go a long way on both sides of the exam room.

CPR is one of those skills you hope you never need—but if the moment ever comes, you’ll be grateful you know it.

💡 During cardiac arrest, CPR helps keep blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until emergency help arrives.

🧠 Every minute without CPR decreases the chances of survival. That’s why bystander CPR can truly make the difference between life and death.

✨ Stories from cardiac arrest survivors are powerful reminders that CPR saves lives. Sometimes, those few minutes of action from a family member, friend, or stranger are what give someone a second chance.

💙 This CPR Awareness Week, consider taking a CPR class or refreshing your skills. You never know whose life you might save one day.

🏋️‍♀️🍽️ Skipping Food After Your Workout?

It might feel disciplined... but your body may disagree. 👀

After exercise, your muscles are ready to recover, repair, and replenish energy.

⚠️ Consistently skipping post-workout nutrition may leave you:
• More fatigued 😴
• Hungrier later in the day 🍪
• Feeling less recovered between workouts

💡 Eating after a workout isn’t “undoing your progress”—it’s helping your body recover from the work you just did.

🧠 Recovery is part of the process. Results don’t just come from training hard—they also come from fueling your body well.

💙 Sustainable health is built on balance, not extremes.

🩺 When a Treatment Gets Denied by Insurance

When a doctor recommends a treatment, it’s based on medical need—not cost. But sometimes, insurance companies don’t approve it on the first try.

💡 If your claim is denied, don’t lose hope.

You may have options:
• You have the right to appeal 📄
• Many denials are overturned with additional documentation
• Your provider can often help support the appeal process

🧠 Insurance decisions and medical decisions are not always the same—but that doesn’t mean the care isn’t necessary.

💙 Advocating for your health matters, and you don’t have to do it alone.
