The Eight Dimensions of Wellness 🌿

Wellness is about more than physical health. It involves caring for every part of our lives to create balance, purpose, and well-being.

The Eight Dimensions of Wellness include:

πŸ’™ Emotional: Coping with life's challenges in healthy ways
πŸƒ Physical: Taking care of your body through movement, nutrition, and rest
πŸ‘₯ Social: Building supportive and meaningful relationships
πŸŽ“ Intellectual: Learning, growing, and exploring new ideas
πŸ’Ό Occupational: Finding purpose and satisfaction in your work or daily activities
πŸ’° Financial: Managing resources to reduce stress and support your goals
πŸ™ Spiritual: Connecting with your values, beliefs, and sense of purpose
🌎 Environmental: Creating safe, healthy, and positive surroundings

This National Wellness Month, take a moment to reflect: Which dimension of wellness could use a little extra attention today?

Small steps can lead to big changes. Every positive choice supports a healthier, more balanced life.

✨ Wellness is a journey, not a destination.

This month, commit to one simple wellness activity each day. Check off activities like:

βœ” Drink enough water
βœ” Eat a healthy meal
βœ” Spend time outdoors
βœ” Practice mindfulness
βœ” Call a supportive friend
βœ” Get quality sleep

Challenge yourself to complete as many as you can and celebrate every step forward.

Wellness is not perfection. It's making one healthy choice at a time.

Governor Sanders has proclaimed August 2026 as Arkansas Wellness Month! The proclamation recognizes the importance of health, happiness, and overall well-being while highlighting the power of education, collaboration, and community-based wellness initiatives. Together, we can build a healthier Arkansas for ALL.

Home and community-based services help people receive care in their own home or community, offering the advantages of community living and improving their quality of life. Many Medicaid-eligible Arkansans of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities get community-based services through the Community and Employment Support Waiver. CES services like Supportive Living and Supported Employment ensure that people with IDD can work, shop, exercise, and have fun in their community - just like everyone else.
