Salem has been on my list for years.
Not because of the ghost stories or haunted history, but because I’ve always been fascinated by the women who were once called witches.
Many weren’t what history has made them out to be. They were healers. Herbalists. Midwives. Women who understood the language of plants and passed that knowledge from generation to generation. They looked to nature long before there were laboratories and medicine cabinets.
Walking through the Ropes Mansion Garden today, I found myself slowing down.
Every flower.
Every herb.
Every color.
Every carefully planned pathway.
It reminded me that gardens are more than something beautiful to look at. They’re living stories. Every plant has its own purpose, its own symbolism, its own role in supporting the life around it. That idea has always fascinated me.
As I wandered through the garden, I couldn’t help but think about how my own journey has changed over the years.
I used to express my creativity through fashion design and home décor. I’ve always loved creating beautiful things. Somewhere along the way, that passion evolved into something deeper. Instead of working with fabrics and interiors, I became captivated by botanicals, oils, herbs, and the incredible wisdom found in nature.
I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning.
The more I study plants, the more I realize how much there is still to discover. That’s one of the things I love most about this path. It reminds me to stay curious, to keep asking questions, and to appreciate the beauty that has always existed around us.
Today wasn’t just about visiting Salem.
It felt like visiting a place that quietly honors a part of history that has inspired me for a very long time.
