It was an honor to be a part of the inaugural Fred Thomas Day event that celebrated the life and legacy of love that Mr. Fred Thomas embodied. He was a phenomenal educator, leader, and pillar in the community that I grew up in. He was also a devoted husband, amazing father, and role model. For me he was a father figure.

Although I’ve known Mr. Thomas all of my life, it was great to hear stories about how he lived from city officials, friends, and family who knew him well. Not only did this day celebrate so much of the impact he made on so many, it also helped raise awareness about the importance of mental health and su***de prevention.

It was great to be among so many amazing community organizations, who are committed to making a difference in some way to enhance overall wellbeing. Freda, thank you for giving us the opportunity to be a part of something so special and purposeful. Also, thank you for the ability to share about the effects of intergenerational trauma and dysfunction🙏🏽💜💙

It was an honor to be a part of the Legacy Heart Walk Community Health Expo and Family Field Day at We Are Washington this weekend. Being a part of this day held a very special place for me, cause it was held in one of the places I call home.

This was an amazing event established to raise awareness and provide various avenues to support wellness, through free screenings and access to resources to promote overall wellbeing. Even when rain threatened to overshadow things, the team ensured adjustments were made to make it happen. It was great getting to connect with everyone that came out, including the other organizations that are making a difference in the community as well.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate and share about the importance of mental health in our community, and the effects of intergenerational trauma and dysfunction🙏🏽🩷

Thank you for featuring me in your magazine. I’m always grateful for moments like these, even when they are really uncomfortable. Being transparent isn’t the easiest thing for me, because I’ve always kept my personal stuff close and private. However, I know our testimonies are not just for us. So, I hope my vulnerability helps someone else, even if just one person.

Still thanking God for allowing me the grace and mercy to be in some of the spaces He is allowing me to be in. C. Mack, thank you again for this opportunity. This interview on reminds me of how much purpose has come from my pain. The work I do comes from the pain of my own trauma and grief, intergenerationally and otherwise. Although my nerves took over and I couldn’t deliver it the way I really wanted to, my prayer is that this interview still connects with you in some way. Blessings to you❤️‍🩹
