The benefits of spending time outdoors in nature don’t end when you turn six, but sadly many nature programs do.
This year, the Roadrunners of Nature Explorers will focus on our mid- to upper-elementary aged children, ensuring that older children explore nature while also challenging them with learning opportunities and activities appropriate for their interests and capabilities.
We will look at scientists and how their childhood experiences helped hone the observation and problem-solving skills they now use in the laboratory or field. We will explore energy, its various types, and how energy transfer defines the world around us. We will learn about the structure of living things and how those biological structures function to support organisms.
Each session, we will also practice our observational skills, recording our findings in a nature journal. We will have opportunities for book reports, presentations, and group projects. We will also leave plenty of time for fun, though, exploring our beautiful natural areas while building forts and friendships.
Please contact us if you have questions or would like to learn more!
