Society will always tell you how quickly you should become yourself.

We are conditioned to measure our lives against an invisible timeline : when we should succeed, settle down, produce, heal, build, and become “someone.”

That’s not how individuation works.

In Jungian methodology, becoming whole requires a descent into the parts of ourselves that society taught us to suppress—the shadow, the wounds, the desires that don’t fit neatly into socially acceptable timelines. Our inner work cannot be rushed just because someone outside of us is uncomfortable with our pace.

One of the darker consequences of living according to the collective is that we can become so preoccupied with appearing to progress that we abandon the ACTUAL process of becoming.

Hustle culture exploits this fear.

It defines rest as weakness.
Slowness as failure.
Reflection as indulgence.
It insists that exhaustion is noble, that productivity makes us worthy.

Constantly overriding the nervous system isn’t discipline. It’s another form of self-abandonment.

For neurodivergent individuals, this conditioning is particularly insidious. Our minds don’t follow conventional rhythms. We need more solitude, more decompression, more time between experiences, or periods of intense focus followed by reparative withdrawal. What externally seems like inconsistency is typically a nervous system attempting to regulate itself.

There is a difference between avoidance and gestation.
Not every period of stillness is stagnation.
Sometimes the psyche is dismantling an old identity before it has enough information to construct the next one.

That liminal space is important—but the process is exacerbated when others begin projecting their timelines onto us.

You may have to be “late.”
You may be misunderstood.
You may be temporarily unrecognizable—even to yourself.

The goal isn’t becoming the person society can recognize most quickly—it’s to become the person your psyche has been asking to be all along. If you need support in that process, I’m available for a free consultation. Just DM me.

Your pace is NOT a character flaw.

The culture we live in has somehow convinced most of us that faster means better—that our worth is measured by our productivity, that exhaustion is evidence of ambition, and when we aren’t constantly moving, we’re falling behind.

But the nervous system does not operate according to hustle culture.

Human beings need periods of rest, reflection, integration, play, wandering, and what may appear from the outside to be “doing nothing.” The brain is actually working and repairing during those quieter intervals. Some of our most important cognitive and creative processing happens when we take a step back from relentless external demands.

This is especially important for neurodivergent and neurocomplex individuals, whose brains process sensory information, emotion, ideas, pattern recognition, and environmental stimuli with greater intensity, and often through less conventional rhythms. The pace that has one person thriving can leave another chronically overstimulated, depleted, or disconnected from themselves.

There is a profound difference between being stagnant and moving slowly.

For some of us, moving slowly is exactly how we move deeply.

People who shame you for taking your time are measuring your life against a timeline that was never designed for you. They call it procrastination when it’s actually processing. They call it laziness when it’s actually recovery. They call it falling behind when you’re quietly becoming someone your previous life could not accommodate.

Hustle culture teaches us to override ourselves.

I would rather teach you to listen to yourself.

Your life is not a race. Your nervous system is not a machine. And becoming who you are meant to become cannot be forced into someone else’s schedule.

“Be not afraid of growing slowly—be only afraid of standing still.”

There is a stark difference between building a meaningful life and sacrificing one at the altar of productivity.

The human psyche was never designed to exist in a perpetual state of output. When months become years of relentless work with little room for rest, intimacy, creativity or play, something begins to atrophy inside of us. Collapse doesn’t always arrive dramatically; it can come quietly, as emotional numbness, chronic anxiety, cynicism or the unsettling sense that you've become a stranger even to yourself.

Jung believed that whatever is neglected doesn’t disappear—it descends into the unconscious. The more we identify with our professional persona, the more the rest of the self is exiled into shadow. Eventually, our psyche compensates. Burnout, depression, illness, and unexpected life disruptions are the psyche's final attempt to restore balance when we've ignored its outcries for too long.

Neuroscience reveals that a nervous system trapped in chronic survival loses access to curiosity, imagination, emotional regulation and genuine connection. We become efficient at functioning while slowly forgetting how to live.
The tragedy of overwork isn't exhaustion—it's that we can spend years constructing a successful life while unconsciously abandoning the person it was meant to serve.

The soul has a way of collecting unpaid debts.
Eventually, it asks for every neglected part of us to come home.

There’s a reason some of us come alive beneath gray or muted skies.

Believe it or not, not every nervous system experiences the world in the same way. For many neurodivergent minds (myself included), overcast days offer something sunlight often cannot : relief.

Softer light, muted colors, quieter environments and fewer sensory demands allow our brains to unclench. Instead of feeling depleted, we experience a profound sense of calm, nostalgia, creativity and even joy. The weather outside finally mirrors the landscape we’re always carrying within or longing for.

Likewise, bright summer-esque days can feel unexplainably agitating or emotionally flat. Heightened light exposure, heat, noise and increased social expectations can overstimulate an already sensitive nervous system. It isn’t pessimism—it’s our sensory processing and it’s completely natural.

The same pattern often extends to our relationship with time. For instance, many neurodivergent people, myself included, naturally flourish in the late afternoon or evening. It’s that time when the world grows quieter, interruptions lessen, and our nervous system no longer feels compelled to compete with the pace of the day. This isn’t laziness or a lack of discipline; it’s chronobiology meeting neurodiversity.

The goal of healing, productivity and alignment isn’t to force ourselves into someone else’s rhythm. It’s to understand our own. Self-awareness is where self-compassion begins, and when we stop pathologizing the way we’re wired, we can finally build a life that works WITH our nervous system, instead of against it.

One of the greatest advantages of remote coaching is that healing no longer has to compete with your schedule. Whether you’re balancing a demanding career, raising a family, or simply live outside the San Antonio area, meaningful inner work is still within reach.

Transformation isn’t dependent on sharing the same room—it depends on your willingness to show up. Through Zoom or FaceTime, I’m able to guide clients across the U.S. and internationally through Jungian shadow work, self-discovery, and practical strategies for lasting personal growth.

If you’ve been looking for an objective, compassionate perspective to help you navigate your next chapter, I’d be honored to connect. I offer a complimentary discovery consultation to see if we’re the right fit. Feel free to send me a DM.

Call it intuition, neuroscience, synchronicity, or something greater than ourselves—the truth remains the same: we are far more capable of rewriting our lives than we’ve been led to believe.

Transformation begins the moment we become conscious of the patterns shaping us. My work is helping people recognize those patterns, integrate what they’ve long avoided, and create lasting change from the inside out.

If you’re ready to begin that process, I’m available for a free consultation. Just DM me.

Life doesn’t always unfold as we envisioned for ourselves. When the path forward feels blocked, it may be showing us its time to consider changing direction. This could also be a tell-tale sign that what you think you want isn’t as in alignment with who you are becoming as you originally thought.

One of the greatest hallmarks of resilience is not certainty; it’s psychological flexibility. Neuroscience reveals that healthy brains adapt through new experiences, while Jungian psychology explains that periods of disruption often mark the beginning of individuation (the process of becoming more fully ourselves).

Life will throw its curveballs. That’s something you CAN be certain about. The trick is we’ve got to do the inner work of resisting the urge to cling to an outdated version of ‘the plan’.

A fixed mindset begs and bargains, “How do I get back to what was?”

A flexible mindset asks, “Who am I being asked to become?”

Mastering the pivot isn’t about giving up on our dream, and it’s not asking us to sacrifice valuable parts of ourselves. It’s the conscious and intentional approach in recognizing when your intuition, your external circumstances, and your individual growth are needing you to evolve. Sometimes the most aligned path forward isn’t the one you originally envisioned—it’s the one that emerges when you’re being asked to adapt without abandoning yourself.

What we understand as “overthinking” isn’t inherently a negative thing.
When we find our minds racing down rabbit holes, it’s often our mind’s desperate attempt at making sense of the world around us, especially in times of personal, environmental or sociopolitical unrest.

By definition, “catastrophizing is a cognitive distortion where a person assumes the absolute worst-case scenario will happen, often based on little to no evidence.”
Sure—but when we see tangible evidence of the worst case scenario actually happening all around us, our minds being drawn back to what it means or what may happen next as a result is not delusional.
Rather, it’s fair to say it’s our mind’s rational pattern-seeking mechanism attempting to ascertain what to do next, IF the most unfavorable outcome comes to pass.

This doesn’t mean you’re crazy or unhealthy.
Modern psychology practices have a tendency to gaslight patients by suggesting they anesthetize themselves with self care or distraction rather than addressing when the core issues are, in fact, very real problems that the individual is experiencing and trying to cope with.

Everyone’s experience is different.
But the way we aid those suffering within their experiences comes with an inherent set of ethics and a responsibility to not mislead or downplay what is happening.

That is the foundation of my work as an intuitive life coach—I don’t believe clarity comes from dismissing your concerns or convincing you to simply think differently.
I’m here to actually assess, examine, strategize and offer real observations and potential avenues to effectively navigate the circumstances that have you “overthinking”.

Bringing you back to center doesn’t happen when you’re told, “you should just take up a hobby and get a cat.”
It happens when someone finally listens to you, feels through the situation with you, and provides clarity that can lead to real results.

If you find yourself struggling, I’m available for a free consultation. Just DM me.
