Girl Therapy: How I Practice Self-Care 💕

Because yes… therapists need therapy too. 😂

Here’s what self-care actually looks like for me:

✨ I protect my peace and say no without feeling the need to explain myself.
✨ I make time to move my body—even when I don’t feel like it.
✨ I spend time with the people who make me laugh and feel like myself.
✨ I give myself permission to rest without feeling guilty.
✨ I pray and make time for my relationship with God. 🙏🏽
✨ I step away when I’m emotionally overwhelmed instead of pushing through.
✨ I talk things out instead of keeping everything bottled up.
✨ I remind myself that I don’t have to fix everything for everyone.
✨ I do things simply because they make me happy.
✨ And sometimes… I mind my business. 😂💅🏽

Self-care isn’t always bubble baths and candles.

Sometimes self-care is boundaries, rest, movement, prayer, laughter, saying no, and choosing yourself.

And yes, as a therapist, I have to practice what I encourage my clients to do. ❤️

What does your “girl therapy” look like? 👇🏽

Now that you know a little about who I am and how I work as a therapist, I want to know how you are as a client. What do you need to feel safe, understood, heard and supported?

When You Realize Your Therapist Was Right…. 😂😂😂

Sometimes asking for help isn’t about admitting that you can’t handle life.

It’s recognizing that you don’t have to handle everything by yourself.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy, consider this your reminder that you don’t have to wait until you’re in crisis to reach out. Your mental and emotional well-being matter now.

You are worth the investment!

Sometimes a person expresses themselves the only way they know how.

Not always the way you need them to.
Not always the way they should.
But often, the way they learned to survive, communicate, or protect themselves.

That doesn’t mean unhealthy behavior should be accepted or excused.

It means there may be a deeper message underneath the words, the silence, the anger, or the defensiveness.

Instead of asking only,
“Why are they acting like this?”

Try asking,
“What are they trying to communicate?”

Understanding creates an opportunity for connection.
And with healthy communication, couples can learn new ways to be heard, understood, and loved. ❤️

Sometimes the goal isn’t to win the argument.
It’s to understand the person you’re arguing with.

You survived. Now you get to learn how to live free. ❤️
