Being seen.. My greatest fear also doubles as one of my deepest desires. I spent a good chunk of my life trying to become invisible. It always felt safer that way. From an early age, I learned to perceive being observed as an opportunity for ridicule and rejection. All I wanted for so many years was to simply disappear. The pain of isolation was easier to face than the risk of connection. Over time, the loneliness became more than I could bear, so eventually I poked my head out of my shell to see who was waiting on the other side. Slowly, I started building a support system of other sensitive souls that accept and embrace me as I am. As this network expands, I become braver. I want to do good. I want to be an agent of change and help heal humanity and this beautiful broken world we’re living in. I want to face my fears and challenge myself to transcend my limitations so I can achieve my soul’s purpose. And I’m starting here. Today. Right now. With transparency and authenticity.

Being human is hard. It’s too often ugly, messy, uncomfortable, sad.. but at the same time it can also glorious and funny and silly and surprising.

My intention this year is to open my heart, mind and spirit to living the full richness of these myriad experiences and drinking in all the magic of this beautiful tragedy we’re living.

I hope my posts might help inspire you to do the same!

I woke up in a great mood this morning. My Christmas packages have started to arrive and I turned on some holiday trap music to match my festive feels. And then out of nowhere my shoulder blades clenched together and the band of muscle beneath them began to spasm like I’ve never experienced before! Ouch. So now I’m laying here in pain trying to consciously breathe through this involuntary contraction and contemplating the human condition.

What is pain? What is pleasure? What’s the difference? How can they commingle? How does our mindset/physical condition define our reality? Do we have a choice in the matter? These are the kinds of questions I want to answer on this page!

And even though it hurts, the gift of being laid out like this inspired me to focus on something I can control in the moment, like breaking the ice and using this outlet as a way to hold myself accountable and practice what I preach as a therapist. Silver linings everywhere you look.🌤
