One moment of divine instruction will change everything
A Kingdom Lesson for the those who love God and call his name by Marjorie “MJ” Janvier, I Love Me Some Me
1. The Man Who Gave… But Needed Guidance
In Acts 10, we meet a man named Cornelius was a Roman centurion, a man of influence, a man of means.
The Bible says he was
“A devout man”, “One that feared God”, “Gave much alms to the people”, “And prayed to God always” Acts 10:2 KJV
Cornelius was doing good.
He was giving.
He was sincere.
He was generous.
But sincerity is not the same as alignment.
Cornelius was doing the right thing… the wrong way.
He had the heart but not the revelation.
And because God is a God of order, structure, and divine alignment, He didn’t let Cornelius stay in partial understanding.
God sent instruction.
2. When Heaven Responds to Your Giving
The angel told him
“Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.”
Acts 10:4 KJV
This means
Your giving can speak.
Your generosity can rise.
Your heart can get God’s attention.
But even when God is pleased with your heart, He will still correct your method.
Cornelius’ alms were loud, but his understanding was incomplete.
So God sent him a messenger.
3. God Sends a Prophet When You’re Ready for the Next Level
Cornelius is told
“Send for Peter… he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.”
Acts 10:6 KJV
This is the part many people miss
Cornelius was not corrected because he was wrong.
He was corrected because he was ready.
God sends instruction when…
Your heart is prepared, Your giving is consistent, Your prayers have reached heaven
Your life is positioned for elevation
Cornelius didn’t need motivation, he needed revelation.
And revelation always comes through a voice.
4. The Lesson for those who love God Community
This is where the teaching becomes personal for us.
Many of us give
We give time.
We give money.
We give support.
We give energy.
We give love.
We give to family, community, church, and causes.
But giving without divine structure can drain you instead of elevate you.
Cornelius teaches us:
Giving is powerful, but giving in order is transformational.
Our community has always been generous.
We’ve always been the backbone, the builders, the supporters, the givers.
But God is calling us into a season where our giving must be
Strategic
Spiri led
Aligned
Purposeful
Directed by revelation, not emotion
Cornelius didn’t just need to give, he needed to understand why and how.
So do we.
5. The Prophetic Principle
God Honors the Heart,
Then He Corrects the Pattern
Cornelius’ story shows us
God sees your sacrifice
God hears your prayers
God honors your intentions
But God will not let you stay in misalignment
He loves you too much to leave you that way
He will send a voice.
He will send a teacher.
He will send a prophet.
He will send clarity.
Because God doesn’t just want you to give
He wants your giving to produce fruit.
6. The Transformation
When Cornelius received instruction from Peter:
His house shifted
His understanding expanded
His spiritual life elevated
His entire household received the Holy Ghost
One moment of divine instruction changed everything.
That’s the power of alignment.
FINAL TAKEAWAY FOR I LOVE ME SOME ME
Cornelius teaches us this kingdom truth
Your heart can be right, your giving can be sincere, and God can still send someone to show you a better way.
That’s not correction
That’s elevation.
That’s not rebuke
That’s refinement.
That’s not judgment
That’s preparation.
When God sends instruction, it’s because He’s getting ready to expand you.
