This Labor Day weekend, we are reminded to rest, not only from our work, but from the incredible cost we pay everyday in our bodies and minds to the, relentless, and vicious voice that says: "You don't quite measure up," "You need to double down on anything and everything that makes you a little bit better, a little bit more adequate in your eyes and those around you."

Wishing you moments of connection and a truly restorative Labor Day weekend. You deserve it! πŸ’œ

DBT can be a helpful option for some people navigating eating disorders, especially if intense emotions or impulsive habits are part of the struggle.

DBT teaches practical skills like riding out tough feelings, managing emotions, and staying present instead of turning to disordered eating to cope.

Perhaps DBT is right for you.

Our practice is growing! πŸ“£πŸ“£ Welcoming Shazeen Fabius, APCC, to our Whole Space Family Therapy community.

Shazeen supports teens, young adults, and adults in working through πŸŒ€ anxiety, πŸ«‚ relationships, identity, and the big life transitions that throw us off balance. Her approach brings fresh perspectives that help clients see their challenges and themselves in a new light, leading to healthier ways to cope and a more fulfilling life.

She has experience leading group therapy πŸ‘₯πŸ‘₯, working closely with parents and families, and spending time in community programs supporting students facing behavioral and emotional challenges.

Shazeen loves spending time with her family, especially her daughter and their two dogs. They enjoy outdoor activities 🌿, taking walks, playing, and enjoying the little moments together.

As a military spouse 🏑, she has gained a deeper appreciation for the experiences of military families and the unique challenges that can come with transitions, change, and new environments.

πŸ’» Shazeen is available for evening virtual sessions as well as Saturday sessions.

For more about Shazeen and her availability, you can reach us at (858) 946-6887 or email us at [email protected].

There is so much about eating disorders that can leave parents and caregivers feeling completely at a loss. They often begin long before the signs are obvious, and many young people become skilled at hiding their struggle.

Eating disorders are not a sign of "bad parenting" or making different food choices. They are complex mental health conditions. Even though we wish we had all the answers, as parents and caregivers, we don't. Healing takes support from multiple sources. If you and your child need support today. We are here for you.

Two things can be true at once. Complexity and hope can coexist. Today may be one of those days when you feel that internal conflict of mixed emotions. We know the feeling.

So however you choose to spend this 4th of July, we wish you moments spent with those who make you feel grounded, seen and included.

How can something be both incredibly rewarding and profoundly depleting? Motherhood is not a one-size-fits-all experience, it is deeply personal yet shared by millions every day. We may feel that we should instinctively know how to be mothers, but many of us struggle with debilitating depression or emotions that seem at odds with how we believe we should feel. While the world goes on, we may find ourselves trapped and unable to keep up with the pace and the expectations, the "failures" and the "lacks."

At Whole Space, we support all mothers πŸ’žthrough inclusive, personalized care that honors your body and experiences.

As we know, parenting doesn't come with a manual! We want to open a space for parents to learn, ask questions, and gain practical tools to better connect with themselves and the young people in their lives who are struggling.

Stay tuned πŸ‘€ for our upcoming parent workshop, a supportive space to learn and connect.

Support isn’t just for crisis, it’s for right now. The longer we delay, the longer it takes to heal πŸ’™

How often do we think of movement as mostly a means of physical change rather than a door to connecting with who we are? πŸ€”
