Here's something that might get me kicked out of the wellness club:

I don't think you need to quit your job, move to a yurt, drink celery juice, or meditate for three hours a day to feel better.

Most people don't need another expert telling them how they're doing life wrong.

They need someone who actually listens.

After 27 years as a massage therapist, I've learned that you already know what's going on in your life.

You know what's stressing you out.

You know what's hurting.

You know what's driving you crazy.

My job isn't to hand you a lifestyle makeover. My job is to help you feel better while you're living your actual life. When you come in for a massage, we talk:

What's bothering you?

What's tight?

What's painful?

What's keeping you up at night?

What would make your body say, "Oh thank God"?

Some days you need deep tissue because your shoulders have been volunteering as emotional support shoulders for everyone you know.

Some days your nervous system is waving a tiny white flag and begging for a timeout.

Let's talk about something most people in the music industry don't admit...

Sometimes the hardest part of the job isn't the 18-hour day. It's the text message that says, "Wish you were here."

I've missed family vacations, birthdays, parties, BBQs, beach days, holidays, graduations, and enough summer fun to fill an entire scrapbook.

And if you're in this industry, I know you've missed plenty too.

The funny thing is that the gig ends, but the guilt doesn't.

My mom still brings up vacations I missed 25 years ago because I was working.

Twenty-five years.

That's longer than some of the people reading this have been alive.

We laugh about it now, but it's a reminder that our choices affect the people we love, too.

This lifestyle comes with incredible experiences, lifelong friendships, and unforgettable memories. It also comes with sacrifices. And sometimes those sacrifices hurt.

You can be grateful for the opportunities and still wish you'd been at the family BBQ.

You can love the career and still miss the beach day.

You can be excited about the gig and still feel disappointed about what you missed.

That's being human.

Missing the birthday may be unavoidable. Carrying the guilt forever doesn't have to be.

For years, I thought I needed to tone myself down.

I’m highly sensitive. Neurodivergent. Curious. Blunt. Ambitious. Innovative. I get bored easily and I've always questioned the way things have always been done.

In other words, I've never exactly been conventional.

One of the most powerful lessons I learned during my mindfulness studies at UCSD was that you are not too much for the right people.

The very traits I spent years trying to fix turned out to be some of my greatest strengths.

When we're stressed, we often focus on what's "wrong" with us. We compare ourselves to everyone else and try to fit into boxes that were never meant for us.

When we regulate our nervous system, something shifts. We stop fighting ourselves and start understanding ourselves.

That's where real confidence begins.

Maybe confidence isn't about becoming someone else.

Maybe it's about finally appreciating the things that make you uniquely you.

Almost every cool thing that's happened in my life started as a completely unreasonable idea.

Working backstage with major artists.
Traveling the world.
Starting a business.
Creating retreats.
Teaching mindfulness.

Every single one of those started as a dream.

Good.
