A little family adventure, a lot of stepping outside our comfort zones. 🏔️❤️

This vacation was a beautiful reminder of what happens when we disconnect from the world and reconnect with each other.

My daughter suggested the Big Pine hike,15 miles and 2,200 feet of elevation gain. 😳

Honestly… I was scared. I wasn’t sure I could do it. But I wanted to support her new love of hiking and exploring, so I decided to try.

My mindset was simple: I’ll do my best and see how it goes. I can stop if I need to. I don’t have to finish.

And guess what? We did it! 🙌🏼😂

That mindset is actually so much of what helps with anxiety. Instead of focusing on “What if I can’t?” or telling ourselves we have to do something, we can remind ourselves:

“I can try. I can do my best. And I can reassess along the way.”

Sometimes giving ourselves permission to stop actually makes it easier to keep going.

And the views? Absolutely incredible. 🏔️ God’s creation was everywhere, reminding us to slow down and appreciate what’s right in front of us.

We hiked, paddle boarded, jumped in the lake, fished along the creeks, laughed, got tired, dirty, and spent time together without the usual distractions.

These are the moments I want to remember. ❤️

So grateful for this family, this adventure, and the God who created it all. 🙏🏼

I spend a lot of time helping people stop assuming anxiety is revealing their character flaws. More often, it’s revealing their values

If your brain won’t stop replaying conversations, analyzing every decision, or wondering if you said the wrong thing…

you probably don’t have a thinking problem.

You have a protective brain.

Anxious teens are often not being difficult on purpose.

More often, their nervous system is reacting as if something is unsafe, even when it isn’t.

What looks like avoidance, irritability, or shutdown is often anxiety in disguise.

One of the most powerful things parents can do is stay connected while gently supporting their teen to face fears gradually rather than avoid them.

Change builds slowly, but it is absolutely possible.

What your first therapy session is like !

Biggest myth about therapy!

07/10/2026

Starting therapy can feel intimidating but the first session is much more conversational than most people expect.

There is no pressure to share everything at once.

The focus is simply on understanding what’s bringing you in, what you’ve been struggling with, and what you hope will change.

It’s also a chance for you to see if the therapist feels like a good fit.

The right space should feel safe, respectful, and grounded.

Therapy is often misunderstood as just a place to talk or vent.

While being heard matters, effective therapy goes much deeper than that.

Good therapy helps you:
• Understand your patterns
• Change unhelpful cycles
• Build practical skills for daily life
• Create lasting emotional change

That’s where real growth happens.
