The cobbler's child finally gets a pair of shoes! This is Leslie's own, personal "Shepherd's Race" labyrinth, a variation of an ancient "turf maze".

This Saturday is World Labyrinth Day and there is a drawable tide in the morning that might still be walkable at 1:00pm, but since Imperial Beach and Coronado are still marked as "exceeding acceptable bacteria levels" (due to the ongoing Tijuana river sewage treatment problem), I'll probably be starting in La Jolla Saturday morning and work my way north to see what the beaches look like up there. Solana Beach and Encinitas spent MILLIONS for sand replenishment a few months ago to try to replace the sand lost in the last two winter's storms, but it really won't be drawable until it levels out a bit more.
Hope to see you on the sand!

Ran out of time and tide for today. I added in Pacific Beach just north of the pier, but that's all for today. I'll do the northern half tomorrow from La Jolla Shores to Solana Beach, maybe to Encinitas. Getting ready for the marathon on Wednesday morning. 😎🥰

Well, after a summer of pretty lousy tides, this week until New Years is looking pretty awesome for labyrinth drawing! There's the beginning of a decent run of low tides starting tomorrow (Friday, a -0.23 at 1:38pm) and getting better through the week (ebbing about 50 minutes later each day and a bit lower) until New Years Day, Wednesday with a forecasted high of 71°F and a low of -1.2 at 4:36pm!

In re my previous post about the system we live under, here's what I mean about a system that would be more about love, compassion, and caring, vs. the current one focused on power, force, and control:

I know some of my readers like to walk winding labyrinths. Here’s a new one that anyone can enjoy–under the elevated tracks of the San Diego Trolley! The new river park at SDSU Mission …

Sadly, there will be no New Years Day labyrinth draw this year. The tides are not conducive to a draw and there is not much sand left . . . and none in Encinitas any more -- a sad end for the 22 year tradition there! 🙁
I tried to get a permit to do chalk paint on grass in a park, but the City of Encinitas refused my request, and with the rain, my back-up plan of just using chalk on the round slab in Leucadia Oaks Park is also a bust. 🙁
Next year is looking good, however!
