September 30th is my mom’s birthday 💜
And this year also has been 10 years since she left this physical world. I look at her photos and still see everything she was: that open smile, that warmth, that way of making everyone feel at home.
Losing her was the hardest thing my siblings and I have ever lived through. But her passing also became one of the greatest teachers of our lives. It completely changed the way we see death. What once felt like an ending, I now understand as a transformation, a change of form, not an absence. Love doesn’t stop when a body is gone. It keeps moving, guiding us, and showing up in the quiet moments.
Today, on her birthday, my sister Carina and I went live to talk about spirituality and how our mom’s passing opened our eyes and our hearts. Carina and I walk this spiritual path together, and so much of it began with her. It felt like she was right there with us, still teaching, still bringing us together.
If you knew her, I know you carry a piece of her too. And if you didn’t, I hope this reminds you to hold your people close and to see death with a little less fear and a little more love.
Happy birthday, Mom. Forever with us.
