Everyone sees the wedding. Few people talk about the freedom a safe marriage gives you.
The best gift God has ever given me is freedom, and yes, it came packaged as my husband, Dr. Sterling.
Not because a man completed me.
Because I finally chose the kind of love that does not require me to shrink.
Freedom to express my needs.
Freedom to express my dreams.
Freedom in self expression.
Freedom to say what helps me feel safe in marriage, and be met with care.
And I know you feel like this kind of man does not exist.
Because you have always been the different one, even in your own family.
You are successful in life.
You are high functioning.
You have done deep work on yourself.
You move with God.
And still, you crave something so simple it almost feels dangerous to want.
A stable man.
A grounded man.
A man who commits to you and your union.
Who sees all parts of you, accepts your eccentricities, and gives you room to live fully.
But most people have not built the capacity to hold you.
So you filter yourself.
You soften your truth.
You edit your needs.
You try to be easier to love.
Not because you are fake.
Because you learned that being fully expressed came with a cost.
So you tried to become normal in love.
You did therapy thinking, once I heal enough, relationships will finally work.
You went deeper into astrology hoping it would explain why you can figure out so much of life on your own, yet love still does not match what you give
And at some point, you got tired.
So now you avoid it altogether.
Relationships. Men. Hope.

You do not need to become normal to be chosen by a good man.
You need to become anchored.
Anchored in self worth.
Anchored in self expression.
Anchored in standards you actually keep when chemistry shows up.
You decide who you are.
You decide who you want to attract.
Because you are the expert of your own needs, you can identify what kind of love actually fits you and what kind of life can hold you
