It has been my experience that parenting is the hardest job there is! I know that is also true of the parents I work with and others I talk with in the community. I am always reminded that any other job we have provides us with training, support, and often a mentor to help us learn the ropes, figure out what to do, and how to handle tricky situations. While new parents do get advice from others, o

ften before the baby is even born, and while there are aisles of parenting books available, how do you separate the good advice from the bad? And how do you find time to read all those books? Or perhaps you have already read the books but struggle with putting the ideas into practice? I am a parenting coach who has the education, experience, and knowledge to be that mentor to you as you navigate the unpredictable waters of parenting. I have taken the classes, read the books, the evidence-based education, and have the insight, strength, and hope to share from not only my own family but also others I have worked with thus far.

If you've been following me for any length of time, you know how much of an advocate I am for playing with your kids. Play is good for all of us and is a great way to strengthen connection!

I took my teen to this place today and we had a blast.

Until, I decided to challenge myself on these things.

Unlike the child in the photo on their website, I fell down and tweaked the hell out of my shoulder.

Currently icing it and ready to tell the doctor, "I hurt myself playing in an indoor inflatable park because I forgot I was 50."

But I would still do it again. Just more carefully next time.

Play but play carefully!

Last night, my 14 year old was up too late so they got cranky. I was punchy from exhaustion.

While they were brushing their teeth, l was standing at the end of the hallway by their door just doing a weird dance because I'm silly.
They came out of the bathroom after brushing her teeth, looked at me, trying to hide their laughter and called out, "DADDY! Mama is being very weird."

Unable to see my shenanigans from the office, he asked, "What is she doing?

"She's standing at the end of the hallway just swaying back-and-forth and staring at me! She's staring at me like I'm her prey!"

Then my teen covered their mouth to hide their laughter and walked past me to go to bed.

Our house is built on love and shenanigans

Call now to connect with business.

Father's Day can be a time of celebration and gratitude for some, but for others, it can be painful and difficult.

I remember the first time I explained to my then toddler that we can have multiple conflicting feelings at once. Her little mind was blown. Days like today can bring up those feelings for many parents.

Often those drawn to peaceful parenting did not come from peaceful families who welcomed their feelings, saw things from their perspective, and were firm *and* kind.

Many parents come to me because they don't want to parent they way they were parented.

As I often share, I became so focused on learning how I could parent differently from the time my daughter was born because I did not want to repeat generational patterns. My desire to seek out information and to do things in a mindful way ended up creating a new career for me as a coach.

I believe my father did the best that he could given his own upbringing, skills, and knowledge *and* many things he did and said are things I would not do to my child. Holding those two opposing ideas can be challenging and painful. You can't parent mindfully and not be aware of your own childhood.

Today, I am grateful for the father my husband is to our daughter and holding space for the little girl inside of me. Whatever you circumstances were and are, days like today can feel complicated.

I'm giving my late father grace and am filled with gratitude for the last three years of his life we had together after he made amends to me. But it didn't change the past of my childhood. Reconciling those two truths is an ongoing journey for me.

I'm giving myself grace.

I wish the same for you.

One of my favorite things to recommend to parents is something called Special Time.

It’s also one of the things that parents resist the most.

Not because they don’t love their children. Not because they don’t want connection. But because parenting is exhausting, modern life in 2026 is overstimulating, and the idea of sitting on the floor playing pretend for ten uninterrupted minutes can feel strangely impossible.

Trust me, I understand.

Read my latest Substack post for more.

One of my favorite things to recommend to parents is something called Special Time.

When I was growing up, my mother was very easily triggered by nearly everything I did.

Ranging from she didn't like it or didn't agree with it or if it inconvenienced her or if I disagreed with her. Ad infinitum.

She would yell at me & shame me. Frequently, she would also hit me or slap me across the face - her signature move - while she said her signature phrase, "How dare you!"

Everything was a sign of disrespect to her.

I was just being a kid.

As a parent, I am always so flabbergasted when my teen does the things which led to my mother's rage.

As in, how could this have been such a big deal to her.

Tonight, I realized my teen had taken my fine tooth comb out of the shower & I needed it.

Many years of therapy, lots of inner work and ten years of coaching other parents have helped me heal.

But nothing heals me as much as moments like this.

"Honey, can you bring my comb you borrowed?"
"Oh sure, Mama. Sorry about not putting it back."
"Thank you. Love you."
