We were honored to attend the 26-27 South Bay Community Kick of Event, alongside our incredible young volunteer, whose compassion and dedication remind us that making a difference has no age limit.

When communities come together, we create pathways to independence, belonging, and opportunity for people of all abilities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, and helped spread the message. Together, we're building stronger, more inclusive communities—one connection at a time.

Brain injury can happen to anyone, at any age. The CDC reports an estimated 5.3 million U.S. residents are living with disabilities related to traumatic brain injury. Independence starts with the everyday. Through our Activities of Daily Living services, CALI staff work side-by-side with clients on mobility training, personal hygiene, home organization, and money management. Adults with disabilities experience health disparities and are more likely to report various health challenges than those without a disability. In California, 40% of adults with disabilities report experiencing depression, compared to 12% of adults without disabilities. Thank you to the San Ysidro Community Collaborative for inviting CALI – Connections for Adults Living Independently to present and share our services with community professionals and partners.

Martha Flores, Community Outreach Worker, had the opportunity to discuss how CALI supports independence and empowers disabled adults living with intellectual disabilities to maximize their full potential in the home environment in San Diego County.
