A Pride Month Reminder From Mama Ry:

Your very EXISTENCE gives someone the permission to be themselves. The more true you are to YOU- the more others will safe to do the same. ✨🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️♿️💖✨
Utterly OBSESSED with these photos from our SHIFT Pride event! Stay tuned for more soon!

I’ve lived with widespread joint hypermobility since birth so sometimes I don’t even realize I’m doing something differently until someone points it out. Today it was how I put on lipliner. 😅💋♿️
Do you have any quirky ways you’ve learned to support your wonky joints over the years? ♿️🦓

Another day, another interesting interaction with the public as a nurse who uses a wheelchair.
Just call me Nurse Handicap I guess…😅😂😂♿️
*bless his pea pickin’ heart*

[VD: Ry, a white femme presenting human, can be seen speaking directly to the camera. She’s wearing tan colored scrubs with rainbow peace sign earrings and a rainbow seed bead choker. Her unruly wavy auburn hair is pulled back and her top lids are lined in lime green eyeliner. As she speaks, she raises the camera to show that she’s seated in her wheelchair. The badge on her chest reads “RN” in large print.]

I am still coming down from the incredible experience that was this past weekend/WeHo Pride.
The Rainbows. The Love. The GAY DOGS. It was one for the books and I will certainly post more soon. 🏳️‍🌈🤟🏻❤️🐶

Until then, please appreciate a peak into the whirlwind that is my life- WeHo Pride Sunday➡️Back at the Hospital for rounds Monday morning. 😂😅

ID: Two photos of Ry (femme presenting human with sunburn hair pulled back into a low pony) are shown side by side. The first- labeled “Sunday” in soft purple cursive- shows them at the WeHo Pride parade standing and leaning back against the barricade. She’s wearing large round orange sunglasses, a rainbow crocheted bra top, and her dark navy wash long shorts hang past her knees and the button and zipper are undone to show off an colostomy. Colleen, said colostomy, has on a bag cover- the background is white and the rainbow texts covering it in horizontal lines reads multiple types of pronouns. They’re wearing bright red lipstick, lots of gold jewelry including oversized rainbow bamboo hoops. She leans against the barricade smiling into the sun. Photo 2- labeled “Monday” in white block letters outlined in blue- shows Ry fresh faced (and a little sunburnt)- she’s seated in her wheelchair wearing royal blue scrub pants and a fitted black long sleeve shirt- her RN badge hangs from the neckline. They’re smiling, but wishing they were back at Pride.

The radio triggered a flashback to Ry’s college ballet final and LAWWWD I wish there was video evidence. 😂😅🩰

PS- GO DUKES!!! Class of 2013 baby! 💜💛

Background: I am OBSESSED with the app. So I was listening to a random audio on my way home from work. In said audio, the reader started teasing the female partner with a popsicle. This was my reaction. 😅😂

It’s almost June, which means it’s almost time for one of my favorite events of the year:
United Spinal Association’s Roll on Capitol Hill!

June 23-25, United Spinal Advocates will meet with Congressional members to discuss some of United Spinal’s priority policies on the table that affect the disability community. As a United Spinal advocate and practicing registered nurse, I wanted to take a moment to bring to your attention the three main policies we will be discussing this year!

We would LOVE your help to continue this incredible mission. Head on over to the link in my bio:
https://givebutter.com/ROCH2026
and donate to the ROCH 2026: Advocacy Impact Fund. Every dollar donated assists to amplify voices who deserve to be heard and policies that affect the REAL needs of our community.

[VD: Ry, a femme presenting human, speaks directly to the camera from her living room. She’s wearing bright orange colored scrubs and seated in her wheelchair. Her auburn hair/rainbow streak are pulled back into a low ponytail and her earrings are tiny Medicare cards. Behind her is a fireplace covered in plants and random nicknacks.]

Just another day in the life of an Acute Care RN Case Manager! 😅🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
And why, if you ever receive any kind of insurance denial that makes NO sense- you should follow up with your insurance provider ASAP.
