For dogs, the best part of a lake day usually isn’t the lake.

It’s being there with you. 🐶🧡

On the boat.

At the dock.

In the middle of the family plans.

Exactly where they think they belong.

That’s one of the things we love most about Bark’n’Buoy.

A dog life jacket might seem like a small piece of gear, but for many families it helps make more water-day moments feel possible.

More boat rides.

More sunset cruises.

More weekends at the lake.

More “of course the dog is coming” plans.

And for dogs who aren’t naturally strong swimmers, having a little extra support can make those adventures feel more comfortable too.

Because Bark’n’Buoy was never just about helping dogs float.

It was about helping them come along.

And judging by this face, he takes his role as captain very seriously. 😂🌊

Some dogs jump into the water like they were born for it. Others need a little more confidence. 🐶🌊

That’s one of the reasons we designed Bark’n’Buoy with support in more than one place.

The body of the vest adds buoyancy, while the extra chin support helps give the head a little more support in the water.

It’s a small detail, but for some dogs it can make water time feel a lot more comfortable.

And that’s really what Bark’n’Buoy is about.

Not forcing every dog to become a great swimmer.

Just giving them a little extra help so they can be part of the fun.

More dock days.
More boat rides.
More first swims.
More moments where you look at your dog and think, “I can’t believe they actually went in.” 😂

Confidence around water doesn’t always happen right away.

Sometimes it starts with simply feeling a little more supported.

Head up. Tail wagging. Adventures on. 🧡

“But my dog already knows how to swim.”

We hear that a lot.

And Kara’s dog was a confident swimmer too. 🐶🌊

The issue wasn’t getting him into the water.

It was that after a while, she noticed he would start sitting lower, paddling more slowly, and working harder to keep his head comfortably above the surface.

That’s when she started looking for something that wasn’t just for dogs who couldn’t swim.

She wanted something that could also help a dog who loved swimming so much he didn’t always know when to stop.

That’s where two Bark’n’Buoy features became especially useful:

The chin support gave him a comfortable place to rest his head.

And the top handle made it easier to give him a hand getting back onto the boat when he was tired and wet.

That’s an important reminder for any dog parent:

A good swimmer can still get tired.

Life jackets aren’t only for nervous dogs or poor swimmers.

They’re also for:

• Long swim sessions
• Boat days
• Unexpected jumps
• Tired pups
• Dogs who always think one more swim is a great idea 😂

Sometimes the best reason for extra support isn’t that your dog hates the water.

It’s that they love it a little too much. 🧡

The best part of Bark’n’Buoy isn’t the life jacket. It’s the dogs inside them. 🐶🧡

Every photo we get reminds us why we started this brand in the first place.

Frenchies on their first boat ride.

Pugs discovering the lake.

Big dogs who could probably swim circles around us.

Nervous pups slowly getting more comfortable around the water.

And, of course, the dogs who have absolutely no idea what they’re doing but are having the time of their lives anyway. 😂

Seeing 5,000+ dog parents become part of the Bark’n’Buoy community means a lot to us.

Because this was never just about selling a vest.

It’s about more days together.

More lake weekends.

More beach trips.

More boat rides.

More memories with the dog who somehow ends up being the center of every family adventure.

So if you’ve trusted Bark’n’Buoy with your pup, sent us a photo, left a review, or told another dog parent about us:

Thank you. Truly.

And please keep the photos coming.

There is no such thing as too many happy, soaking-wet dogs in our camera roll. 🐾🌊

One of the biggest myths about dogs is that they can all swim. 🐶🌊

We grow up hearing about the “doggy paddle,” so it’s easy to assume every dog will naturally know what to do in the water.

But there’s a big difference between being able to paddle and being a strong, safe swimmer.

A lot comes down to body shape.

Some dogs are naturally better suited to the water.

Others have:

• Short legs
• Long bodies
• Broad chests
• Dense, muscular frames
• Flat faces or shorter muzzles

That can make staying comfortably positioned in the water much harder.

Think about the difference between a Labrador and a French Bulldog.

Both are dogs.

Both have four legs.

But their bodies move through water very differently.

And even dogs that are good swimmers can still get tired, panic, fall unexpectedly into deep water, or venture farther than they should.

That’s why we believe one sentence is worth remembering:

Being able to paddle doesn’t automatically mean being safe in the water.

Around pools, boats, docks, lakes, and open water, a little preparation can make a big difference.

For us, the philosophy is simple:

Don’t assume. Prepare.

Let them enjoy the adventure — just give them the support and supervision they need. 🧡

Ever notice how some dogs swim with their head tilted way back? 🐶🌊

It can look a little funny, but often they’re working hard to keep their nose and mouth comfortably above the water.

For some dogs, that takes more effort than you’d expect.

Especially stocky, short-legged, or flat-faced breeds like Frenchies, Pugs, and Bulldogs.

Their body is paddling forward…

while their neck is doing extra work just to keep their face up.

That’s one of the reasons we designed Bark’n’Buoy with support under the chin, not just flotation around the body.

Most dog life jackets focus on buoyancy through the torso.

We wanted to add a little extra support where some dogs need it most: around the head and chin.

Think of it like the difference between constantly treading water and having something there to help support you.

Same dog.
Same water.
A little more help in the right place.

Of course, a life jacket never replaces supervision.

Our philosophy is simple:

Life jacket on. Human nearby. Adventure together.

Because the goal isn’t to make every dog fearless around water.

It’s to help them enjoy it with a little more confidence — and give their humans a little more peace of mind too. 🧡

I’ll admit it — the chin support was the part I didn’t really understand at first. 😂

When we first tried the Bark’n’Buoy vest on at home, everything else made sense right away.

The bright color.
The adjustable fit.
The top handle.

But that little float sitting under the chin?

I remember thinking:

“Does he really need that?”

Then came the first lake day. 🌊

That’s when it clicked.

Some dogs, especially stocky and flat-faced breeds, have to work pretty hard to keep their head comfortably above the water.

They can be paddling like crazy while also trying to keep their nose and mouth clear.

The chin support adds a little extra help right where they need it most.

It doesn’t replace supervision. It doesn’t turn every dog into a great swimmer.

But it can give them a more supported position in the water and a place to rest their chin when they slow down.

And suddenly, the part I thought looked a little funny became the part I appreciated most.

First fitting: suspicious.
First lake day: very different story. 😂

Sometimes the smallest design details make the most sense once you actually see them in use.

That’s exactly why we put it there. 🧡

A dog life jacket can look pretty simple… until you actually need it. 🐶🌊

When we were designing Bark’n’Buoy, we kept coming back to one question:

What does a dog actually need in the water?

Not more bulk.
Not unnecessary straps.
Not a design that looks good but gets in the way.

They need support where it matters.

That starts with the chin float.

Dogs have to keep their nose and mouth above the surface while they swim, and for stocky, short-legged, or flat-faced breeds, that can take a lot of effort.

The extra chin support helps give their head a little more support in the water, especially during rest breaks or when they start getting tired.

Then there’s the top handle.

Because sometimes your dog doesn’t need another minute of swimming — they need a quick hand getting back onto the dock, boat, or shore.

We also added bright colors and reflective trim to help make dogs easier to spot around the water, along with an adjustable fit designed to stay secure without getting in the way of movement.

None of these details are there just for looks.

They’re there because real water days can be unpredictable.

And when your dog is in the middle of the action, the little things can make a big difference.

Bark’n’Buoy was built for more confident splash days — and a little more peace of mind for the people watching from the shore. 🧡

Why did we start Bark’n’Buoy?

Because not every dog was built for the water… but that doesn’t stop them from wanting to be part of it. 🐶🌊

The beach trips.
The lake weekends.
The boat rides.
The family days by the pool.

Some dogs are natural swimmers. Others have short legs, stocky bodies, broad chests, or flat faces that can make swimming more tiring.

But try telling that to a dog standing on the shore watching everyone else have fun.

That’s the idea Bark’n’Buoy was built around.

We didn’t just want to make something that helps dogs float.

We wanted to make something that helps more dogs join the adventure with a little extra support.

That’s why our jackets include things like:

• Extra flotation around the body
• A supportive chin float
• An adjustable fit
• A strong top handle for quick assistance
• Bright, easy-to-see colors

The little chin piece is probably the first thing people notice.

It’s there to give the head additional support in the water, especially when a dog is getting tired or working hard to keep their face up.

For us, Bark’n’Buoy is really about one thing:

More time together.

More lake days.
More boat rides.
More wet dogs shaking water all over the car. 😂

And fewer moments where your best friend has to stay behind.

That’s the story we’re building — one water-loving dog at a time. 🧡
