It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to my oldest client, L., who recently passed away just 11 days after celebrating her 104th birthday.
For the past 16 years, I had the privilege of working with L. three to five days a week for our 30-minute sessions. She initially came to me with an early-stage dementia diagnosis. Through our consistent work, she not only stayed physically strong—performing most activities of daily living with minimal assistance—but she also preserved an incredible level of independence and dignity.
Her cognitive decline over those 16 years was remarkably minor and hardly detectable to outsiders. Until very recently, she was still walking independently with her walker.
While I deeply miss her, I find great comfort in knowing she passed away peacefully without prolonged suffering. I am profoundly grateful to have played a role in maximizing her quality of life over the last decade and a half.
Rest in peace, L. 🕊️
