A new study published in the European Heart Journal detected micro- and nanoplastics in the blood of 84% of patients experiencing a serious heart attack. 🫀

For comparison they were detected in:

🔴 84% of patients experiencing a heart attack
🟠 40% of patients with chronic ischemic heart disease
🟢 32% of patients with normal coronary arteries

The research does not prove that microplastics cause heart attacks, but it adds to a growing body of evidence examining the connection between plastic exposure and cardiovascular health.

🌎 Plastic pollution is no longer only an environmental issue.

A recycling symbol should reflect what happens in the real world, not what is only theoretically possible ♻

A federal judge has temporarily blocked enforcement of California’s SB 343, a law designed to limit misleading recycling claims.

This matters in healthcare. Amber plastic prescription vials often display recycling numbers, even though the EPA says they are not recyclable in most areas of the United States.

The result is consumer confusion, and more plastic sent to landfills.
