A new study published in the European Heart Journal detected micro- and nanoplastics in the blood of 84% of patients experiencing a serious heart attack. 🫀
For comparison they were detected in:
🔴 84% of patients experiencing a heart attack
🟠 40% of patients with chronic ischemic heart disease
🟢 32% of patients with normal coronary arteries
The research does not prove that microplastics cause heart attacks, but it adds to a growing body of evidence examining the connection between plastic exposure and cardiovascular health.
🌎 Plastic pollution is no longer only an environmental issue.
🫀 It’s becoming a human health crisis.
At Pillumina, we believe healthcare packaging should be part of that conversation too.
♻️ It’s time to rethink our dependence on single-use plastic and work toward a healthier, more circular future for healthcare.
