Just stumbled across this photo of me from college when I first got political.. I was so feisty, with strong ideals, and I wasn't afraid to get into the mess of it all.

Yesterday I called voters in Arizona, and yeahh it takes a thick skin.. but I had ONE conversation that made it all worth it.

It was with a young woman who previously voted blue but was considering not voting at all this year because she was so discouraged by both sides, by the ongoing war, she had a sense of hopelessness that anything could change.

I empathized deeply with that, and we had a real, messy human conversation.

The dems have disappointed the hell out of me too, and it sure is tempting to lapse into despair and complacency..

In the end, she felt motivated to look again at the options and exercise her rights..

We have less than a week left to decide our fate for the next 4 years or possibly much, much longer than that.

It takes many people making small donations and these little slivers of real human to human contact..

From my college self to you, BE BOLD! Take action!

I can't say I understand anything at all about what is actually going on behind the scenes in American politics, or the far reaching impacts that either candidate will have on our nation, but I wouldn't sleep well at night just standing by..

I'm so pleased to share about the upcoming Integrative Psychedelic Therapy Training that my friends Genesee Herzberg and Jason Butler are putting on through Sage Integrative Health!

I know there are a lot of psychedelic trainings out there these days, but I feel this one offers something truly unique, including for those with more experience in the field...

Sage's program is for licensed and pre-licensed practitioners, as well as non-licensed folks with training and experience in counseling and trauma work. Trainees will receive a certificate of completion as well as opportunities for further support, consultation, and mentorship.

The course will go into depth exploring therapeutic technique in psychedelic-assisted therapy from a range of complementary perspectives, including relational, somatic, decolonizing, Jungian, IFS, and liberation psychology, not shying away from more sensitive topics such as erotic transference, managing sexual energy, navigating racial and cultural differences, and working with challenging cases.

The training is unique in its small cohort size, extensive opportunities to learn from and develop relationships with our expert core faculty, and ample space to witness the work, practice, and receive live feedback through demos, role plays, and experientials. The training will offer an unparalleled level of therapeutic rigor from a trauma-informed, depth, relational, somatic, and decolonizing lens. Topics of race, culture, diversity, and equity will be woven throughout the course, and ethical integrity is at its core.

The program runs from Aug 2nd - Dec 13th, 2024 and includes weekly virtual classes on Fridays from 10am-12pm, as well as an in-person weekend experiential retreat Nov 8 - 11th in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Just now, I wept as my client shared about her first solo journey on the beach and the unbelievable breakthrough that resulted..

She recounted the searingly painful memory the medicine took her to, and how she courageously stayed there with it, using the tools and skills she has learned in our journeys together over the last few years to confront her inner demons.

She became the parent now and put that voice of abuse and judgment in a cage, becoming unaffected by his words, letting HER voice be what matters now.

I cried as she told me she didn't know exactly how it happened but that she had reclaimed her sense of worth, her value beyond what she does or how she looks, her value beyond what anyone else thinks or says about it..

Everything feels so very different over here..

I was overcome with joy to see her so liberated, in such full possession of herself, and with so much ease. It gives me so much pleasure imagining the rest of her life being lived from this place, celebrating her self-arising creativity and the giving and receiving of love freely and naturally.

People really do heal their past. In this case it was especially meaningful that she did it on her own. What a blessing!
