Copper was more than a horse—he was a cornerstone of the OTB program and a very special part of our barn family.
For so many of our kiddos, Copper was their very first ride and their very first opportunity to look down from a higher place than a wheelchair. He welcomed them with patience, kindness, and an understanding that seemed to come so naturally to him. He gave our children confidence when they were unsure, protection when they were afraid, and unconditional love every step of the way. With Copper, they felt safe. They felt capable. They felt understood.
He was truly one of a kind. The impact he had on our program and on the lives of so many children cannot be measured. He taught lessons about trust, courage, patience, connection, and love.
Copper leaves behind a legacy that will live on in every child who learned to believe in themselves because of him, and in every heart he touched along the way. Though we will miss him deeply, we are choosing to be grateful for every moment we were blessed to share with him.
Today, we tip our hats to a remarkable horse and an even more remarkable friend. Thank you, Copper, for giving us your heart, your patience, your strength, and your love. You will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and your hoofprints will remain on our program—and on us—forever.
Run free, sweet Copper. You were loved beyond measure, and we were so incredibly blessed to have you in our lives.
