Soroka Medical Center played an important role in the international Phase 3 clinical trial that helped lead to the U.S. FDA approval of the first oral PCSK9 inhibitor for lowering LDL (“bad”) cholesterol.

Led in Israel by Prof. Yaakov Henkin, the study demonstrated the therapy’s ability to significantly reduce LDL cholesterol while offering a convenient oral alternative to injectable treatments.

AI innovation meets ophthalmology at Soroka.

Soroka Medical Center and Sapir Academic College have launched a new Applied AI Lab for Ophthalmology, bringing together clinical expertise, engineering, and data science to develop smarter solutions for real-world challenges in eye care.

The collaboration kicked off with a hackathon at Soroka’s Innovation Center, where the winning project, led by Soroka ophthalmologist Dr. Yotam Lavi, focused on helping clinicians prioritize patients awaiting cataract surgery based on urgency and medical need.

A remarkable reunion unfolded at Soroka Medical Center’s fourth annual “Hand in Hand” Resilience Conference.

Dr. Ellay Hogeg, an October 7 survivor, came face-to-face with the Israeli Air Force pilot who rescued her, her husband, and their infant daughter from Kibbutz Kfar Aza.

Behind every person at Soroka Medical Center is a story of courage. Even while navigating their own journeys of trauma and healing, they continue to care for their patients with extraordinary strength, resilience, and compassion. 💙

Soroka Medical Center unveils its newly redesigned main entrance.

The new Rager Boulevard entrance will soon welcome thousands of patients, visitors, and staff each day while creating a more accessible, inviting connection between Soroka and the city of Beer-Sheva.

The project reflects a shared commitment to improving the experience of everyone who comes through Soroka’s doors.

Senior Soroka surgeon Dr. Guy Golani has completed hundreds of days of reserve duty since the start of the war while continuing to care for patients at Soroka Medical Center.

Though not obligated to serve, he continues to volunteer. During part of the war, he served alongside his son, an elite combat soldier, while continuing to perform life-saving surgeries at Soroka.
