🩵 A Commitment to Better Hearing. A Commitment to Better Brain Health. 🧠👂
At Kuhn Hearing Center, we believe caring for our patients means caring for the whole person—not just their hearing. That’s why we’re proud to share that Dr. Melissa Sigmund, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, has earned the distinguished designation of Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).
As the number of individuals living with dementia continues to rise, the importance of early identification, education, treatment, and ongoing support has never been greater. Research continues to strengthen the connection between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline, making hearing healthcare an important part of maintaining overall brain health.
Studies have shown that properly fit hearing aids can help reduce listening effort, improve communication, decrease social isolation, and may help slow cognitive decline in individuals with hearing loss. While hearing aids are not a cure for dementia, they are an important piece of a comprehensive approach to supporting brain health and quality of life.
For Dr. Sigmund, earning this certification is about ensuring that every patient—and every member of their care team walking alongside them—receives compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.
At Kuhn Hearing Center, we know that a dementia diagnosis affects an entire family. We are committed to providing not only exceptional hearing care, but also education, guidance, encouragement, and support throughout the journey. Every conversation matters. Every patient matters. And every family deserves to feel heard, understood, and cared for.
Because to us, our patients aren’t just appointments on the schedule—they’re family.
Congratulations, Dr. Melissa Sigmund, on this incredible achievement and your continued dedication to serving our community with excellence and compassion. 💙
