🩵 A Commitment to Better Hearing. A Commitment to Better Brain Health. 🧠👂

At Kuhn Hearing Center, we believe caring for our patients means caring for the whole person—not just their hearing. That’s why we’re proud to share that Dr. Melissa Sigmund, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, has earned the distinguished designation of Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP).

As the number of individuals living with dementia continues to rise, the importance of early identification, education, treatment, and ongoing support has never been greater. Research continues to strengthen the connection between untreated hearing loss and cognitive decline, making hearing healthcare an important part of maintaining overall brain health.

Studies have shown that properly fit hearing aids can help reduce listening effort, improve communication, decrease social isolation, and may help slow cognitive decline in individuals with hearing loss. While hearing aids are not a cure for dementia, they are an important piece of a comprehensive approach to supporting brain health and quality of life.

For Dr. Sigmund, earning this certification is about ensuring that every patient—and every member of their care team walking alongside them—receives compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to their unique needs.

At Kuhn Hearing Center, we know that a dementia diagnosis affects an entire family. We are committed to providing not only exceptional hearing care, but also education, guidance, encouragement, and support throughout the journey. Every conversation matters. Every patient matters. And every family deserves to feel heard, understood, and cared for.

Because to us, our patients aren’t just appointments on the schedule—they’re family.

Congratulations, Dr. Melissa Sigmund, on this incredible achievement and your continued dedication to serving our community with excellence and compassion. 💙

🧠 Did you know your ears and your brain work as a team?

Your ears collect sound—but it’s your brain that gives those sounds meaning.

When hearing becomes more difficult, your brain has to work much harder to understand speech, especially in noisy environments.

That’s one reason why staying on top of your hearing health is so important.

If you’ve been struggling to hear conversations, don’t wait.

We’re here to help you reconnect with the sounds—and the people—you love most.

Thank you for allowing us to help you hear life’s most precious sounds.

Wishing you a peaceful and blessed Sunday.

👂 Hearing Myth vs. Fact

❌ Myth: Hearing loss only affects older adults.

✅ Fact: Hearing loss can affect people of all ages.

Exposure to loud noise, certain medications, illnesses, genetics, and even everyday life can all contribute to hearing loss.

If you’ve noticed difficulty hearing conversations, asking people to repeat themselves, or turning the TV up more than others prefer, it’s worth having your hearing checked.

Early treatment can make a big difference.

We’re here whenever you’re ready.

👂 Did you know?

Your hearing helps keep your brain active.

When hearing loss goes untreated, the brain has to work much harder just to understand speech, leaving less energy for memory, focus, and conversation.

The good news? Treating hearing loss helps keep you engaged with family, friends, and the activities you love.

If you’ve been saying “What?” a little more often lately, we’d love to help.

Schedule a hearing evaluation and discover the difference better hearing can make.

💙 Hear the Difference.
