On this Memorial Day, we remember those who gave everything in service to our nation.

Within our Saga Senior Living communities, we are surrounded by individuals whose lives are deeply connected to that legacy. Among our residents are veterans, spouses, families, and friends who carry stories of bravery, sacrifice, and resilience.

For more than 20 years, Debbie Perez has been a trusted caregiver at Barton House, providing compassionate memory care and meaningful support to residents and families in Scottsdale, Arizona.

According to Debbie, caregiving has always been part of who she is. Growing up, she helped her mother raise her siblings, including twin brothers who were 10 years younger than her.

“My family all come to me. I guess caregiving is in my blood,” Debbie said with a smile. “My purpose is to serve, if I have something to offer, I’m going to give it my all. I love what I do.”

As a dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Debbie understands that connection goes far beyond words.

“Love doesn’t need words,” she shared. “They may not be able to verbalize their needs all the time, but the way they look at me tells me everything I need to know in that moment.”

Debbie says being their friend and building trust with residents every day helps create that connection,

“I love giving residents the support and love they need and families peace of mind,” said Debbie. “The residents and their family are my family.”

“Caring for them here at Barton House isn’t just what I do, it’s something I feel in my heart,” Debbie added.
