Dark scars are some of the most challenging scars to treat, which is why I don’t rush the process. ‼️

Instead of going straight into a pigment treatment, I often begin with inkless revision to improve the quality and tone of the scar first. Creating a healthier canvas gives us the best opportunity for a successful outcome, whether the next step is pigment or simply continuing with inkless revision.

Why did my lipo scars heal darker?

PIH (Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) is something we often see in scar work, especially in medium to deeper skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI).

If your scar healed darker, it simply means the inflammation after surgery triggered extra melanin production (yep, the same pigment responsible for tanning).

When treating PIH, we have to remember that inflammation is what activated the pigment in the first place. That’s why we customize our approach based on your skin’s response, working to improve the pigmentation without triggering more.

As for sessions—every scar is different. Some clients see great improvement after 2 sessions, while others may need 3–4. We typically wait 6–12 weeks between treatments to allow the skin to fully heal and reveal its true response.
