Namaste,

I am Punditji, a humble servant and scholar of the vast and profound knowledge that our ancient Indian scriptures hold. I am blessed to have spent many years studying and understanding the Bhagwad Gita, the various ragas of Indian classical music, and the vast trove of wisdom contained in our Puranas.

The Bhagwad Gita, often referred to as the "manual for life," has been my guiding light, providing wisdom and moral guidance. The teachings of Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra have timeless relevance and offer solutions to dilemmas we face in our everyday life.

My study of Indian classical music and the ragas has led me to appreciate the divine connection between music and spirituality. Each raga, with its unique combination of notes, can evoke specific emotions and is often associated with certain times of the day or seasons, mirroring the rhythm and cycle of life itself.

The Puranas, our ancient texts, contain an incredible wealth of stories and teachings. They are a rich source of philosophical and ethical insights, as well as captivating tales of gods, goddesses, and ancient heroes.

My journey has been one of continuous learning and spiritual growth. I believe in sharing this wisdom with others to help them navigate their life paths. If you have any questions or seek guidance, do not hesitate to ask. I am here to help.

Dhanyavaad,

Transliteration: "Karma aur uske prabhav ke bare mein baat karte hue, hum jeevan ke saath judee har cheez ka jawaab dene ke liye jimmedar hote hain. Hamare karma hamare bhavishya ka nirmaan karte hain aur hamare swabhav aur aacharan ka prabhaav adhiktar hamare antarang man ke sthiti par hota hai. Yadi hum acche karma karte hain toh hamara jeevan sukhdai aur samridhh hota hai. Isliye humesha acche karma karne ka prayas karein aur apne jeevan mein acche karma ke badle swayam accha hone ka prayas karein."

Translation: "Talking about karma and its effects, we are responsible for every aspect of our lives. Our karma creates our future and the influence of our nature and behavior mostly depends on the state of our inner mind. If we do good karma, our life becomes happy and prosperous. Therefore, always strive to do good karma and try to be good in return for good karma in our life."

Hare Krishna!

As you may be aware, 2021 marks the 125th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s appearance in this world. This is a unique opportunity for the devotees of ISKCON to celebrate and glorify our beloved founder-acharya and his gift of Krishna consciousness to the world.

ISKCON has prepared elaborate plans to take Srila Prabhupada to the masses through the internet, television, events, festivals, publications, and other activities.

The first step in branding and packing this year-long celebration from 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2021 is to design the official logo for the 125th anniversary. The Executive Committee of the 125th Anniversary celebrations wanted to involve as many devotees as possible in our attempt to honor Srila Prabhupada and therefore instead of designing the logo ourselves, it was decided to have an international contest to design the official festival logo.

This contest is open for everyone and the entries may be sent to [email protected] between September 2nd to October 30th, 2020. The technical details are given at the end of the email.
We request you to please share this message as widely as possible.

Thank you.

Contest Details

Theme

The theme of this event is celebrating 125th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada’s appearance. The sub-theme would be highlighting
the first purpose of ISKCON:

“To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all peoples in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.”

Drawing from the above, the design needs to reflect on how Srila Prabhupada ‘built a house in which the whole world can live’ based on the principle of ‘unity in diversity’.

Format

Entries must be submitted as JPEG files. For quality reproduction purposes, the winning entry must later be submitted in scalable vector graphic format (EPS). Color must be CMYK, though the logo may also be produced in black and white. Contestants are advised to avoid gradients and half-tones. The logo must be easy to use, handle, resize, manipulate and be usable for web and mobile platforms. It should be visually appealing on both small (as small as 2 cm x 2 cm) and large scales.

Submission

The contest is open from 2nd September 2020 to 31st October 2020. Individuals can send multiple design entries provided each submission is sent as a separate email and contains the full name, address, and telephone number of the designer. Each logo submission should be accompanied by a brief explanation in English of the design and the main ideas represented.
The entries should be emailed to [email protected]

Selection

The final design for the 125th Anniversary shall be selected by the Executive Committee and would be unveiled on 18th November 2020 to coincide with the disappearance day of Srila Prabhupada.
The committee reserves the right to not use any of the entries in case they do not meet the design requirements.

Award

As a token of appreciation, the designer of the winning entry would receive a wide range of SP125 merchandise including biographies of Srila Prabhupada, an invitation to one of the major public events organized by ISKCON in India in2021 wherein he/she would be felicitated on the stage by the Chief Guest and free accommodation (and prasad) for four days at our guest houses in Mayapur/Vrindavan.

Copyrights

Participants affirm that their submissions are their own original work, have not been copied from others or from previous designs, including their own, and do not violate the intellectual property rights of any other person or entity. Selected design(s) would become the sole property of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), registered in Mumbai, India, and may be used for any ISKCON’s activities including, but not limited to, display on websites, business cards, letterhead, posters, and other materials. ISKCON shall have the right to adapt, edit, modify or otherwise use the winning submission in part or in its entirety in whatever manner it deems appropriate. Durga is the most splendid manifestation of Devi. Virginal and sublime, contain within her the power of all the gods combined, she is the invincible power of Nature who triumphs over those who seek to subjugate her. In this sculpture, she is shown with 10 arms holding a variety of weapons slaying the Buffalo demon, Mahisha. Her vahana or vehicle a lion is assisting Durga. Above Durga are 6 attendants playing the drums as well as 2 celestial beings soaring through the air between the looming face of Mahakala.

An excerpt from the story of Durga and Mahisha: The buffalo demon, Mahisha stomped across the three worlds, kicking up dust, polluting the earth and sea. Neither Indra, king of gods, nor Kumara, commander of the celestial armies could stop him. In despair the gods called on Vishnu for help. Vishnu confronted the demon Mahisha first as Narasimha the man lion and then as Varaha, the boar, but each time he failed to subdue the demon. Shiva, the supreme ascetic, disturbed by the violence opened his third eye unleashing the fire of doom. Even the power of Shiva's third eye capable of destroying the three worlds could not arrest Mahisha's march. "Nothing can stop Mahisha now: he will soon control the universe and make Nature dance to his tunes," said Brahma the creator. "It will never be so, Nature can never be conquered," said Brahma as his divine strength, his shakti, emerged from his body in the form of the goddess Brahmi. She rode a swan and held books of wisdom in her hands. Simultaneously, the shaktis of the other gods emerged taking female forms. From Indra, rose Indrani bearing a thunderbolt, riding an elephant, from Kumara rose Kaumari holding a lance and riding a peacock, from Vishnu rose Vaishanavi on an eagle with a discus whirling on her finger, from Varaha came the sharp tusk sow Varahi, from Shiva came Shiavani riding a bull bearing a trident.
