There are a few things I really wish someone had told me earlier in my parenting journey.
That big feelings aren’t misbehavior — they’re a nervous system asking for help.
That what we do in the moment matters more than the perfect explanation we think of later.
And that kids don’t learn how to calm down from lectures… they learn it by feeling safe with us, over and over again.
I didn’t always know this. I didn’t always respond calmly. I’m still learning, honestly.
But once I stopped trying to “fix” the feelings and focused on supporting them, things started to shift in our home.
If you’re in the middle of this right now — if you’re figuring it out as you go — you’re not behind.
You’re doing something really important. 💛
