My 11-year-old child sustained a severe traumatic brain injury in November, resulting in significant sensory and cognitive impairments. She has lost hearing in one ear, vision in one eye, and experiences low vision and a restricted visual field in the other eye. Additionally, she struggles with balance and coordination, cognitive challenges, brain fog, fatigue, and difficulties with social interactions and responses. Fine motor tasks also pose a significant challenge.
She experiences daily meltdowns and faces considerable difficulties engaging in everyday activities, such as playing board games, watching television, or participating in outings, due to her visual impairments.
I am seeking information and guidance from others who have similar experiences, in the hopes of gaining valuable insights into how I can best support my child.
