We're feeling right at home.

One of the best parts of our new office has been welcoming familiar faces and continuing to serve the community we love. We've enjoyed settling into our new space and providing the same quality eye care in a beautiful location.

Thank you for your support throughout this transition and for being part of the Driesen Eye Center family.

We look forward to caring for your vision for years to come.

Did you know your eye health may impact your brain health?

Research has found that adults who underwent cataract surgery had a 29% lower risk of developing dementia compared to those who did not have the surgery.

Why?? One theory is that restoring vision gives the brain access to richer sensory information, helping it stay active and engaged over time.

While cataract surgery isn't a guarantee against dementia, studies continue to show that healthy vision plays an important role in overall health and quality of life. Taking care of your eyes isn't just about seeing clearly - it's about supporting your long-term health.

Make Yourself Visible This Summer 🚴‍♂️

Whether you're biking, or enjoying an evening stroll, being seen is one of the best ways to stay safe.

Here are 3 simple ways to increase your visibility:

LIGHT: A flashing light will be seen by the human eye quicker than anything. A solid light helps judge distances best.

COLOR: Fluorescent yellow-green is one of the easiest colors for the human eye to spot. (Think construction workers). Bright colors can make a big difference, especially at dawn, dusk, or in shaded areas.

EYE CONTACT: Walk against traffic and make eye contact with drivers whenever possible (and give a friendly wave while you’re at it!)

Enjoy your summer!

What happens if chemicals splash in your eyes?

1.  Don’t panic.  IMMEDIATELY flush the eyes with clean water (or saline solution) for 15-20 minutes.  Be sure to hold the eyelids open and DO NOT rub!  Even opening your eyes under a gentle shower is a good idea.

2.  Remove contact lenses and seek emergency care.  Call our office (or the emergency room if after hours) prior to going in.

There are different types of chemical burns:

Alkaline Burns: Common in drain cleaners, lye, and bleach; these are very severe and require longer, thorough, and immediate flushing.

Acidic Burns: Found in battery acid and pool cleaner, they tend to damage the surface but can still cause blindness.

Irritants: Soap or sunscreen requires shorter flushing (5-10 minutes).  Jalapeño peppers are also a common eye irritant.

When it comes to your eyes, quick action matters.
