This little book goes everywhere I go.

It came with me to Puerto Rico and it holds absolutely everything. It holds the excitement, the joy, and the massive waves of gratitude. It also holds the travel stress, the exhaustion, and the moments I get completely frustrated.

It is a visual record of exactly what it feels like to be in my body on any given day.

Most of us only document the perfect, curated moments to show other people. Or we only reach for our tools when we are in absolute crisis. But when you give yourself a physical place to put every single emotion, you stop bottling things up.

You let the joy be bigger. You let the frustration move out of you instead of getting stuck. Having a daily practice means you get to process the full spectrum of being human without having to perform it for anyone.

You need a release valve for the good days just as much as the heavy ones.

You are emotionally constipated.

Most of us never learned how to actually process our emotions and it fu**ed us up. We just sit in it.

I was sitting in my car today stuck in a massive anxious loop. I was stressing about some things until I caught myself and grabbed my journal. I spent two minutes doing nothing but scribbling the word f**k over and over on the page.

It only took two minutes to get the anxiety out of my head and move that energy out of my body.

The stress is still there. The things I am worrying about did not go away. But I can think clearly now because I actually put that energy somewhere. You need a physical release valve.

In the last six months I ended an 11 year relationship, quit a job I loved, and found out my autoimmune disease is in remission.

The way I navigated all of that was my art journal. It became a visual diary to get my feelings out and track them.

Looking at my pages I started seeing patterns about telling the truth. Making art helped me realize I was not happy. It cut out the external noise and allowed me to actually hear my own voice again.

You do not have to be good at art to do this.

When you tell yourself the truth, it feels terrifying.

Your life will absolutely change. You might leave a relationship or a job. You might move across the country or go live in a tiny house by the beach. You might start your own business. You might become a better friend, a better partner, or a better artist.

Take your power back.
Take up space.
You are f**king worth it.

Finding Your Frequency starts June 30th. It is a 6 week live container where we go through a 30 day art challenge together and practice being witnessed without shrinking.

Making art while worrying if other people will like it is another form of people pleasing.

You do not have to be good at art for art to be good for you. The end product isn’t as important as you think. It does not need to be pretty or perfect. The process is what matters.

Doing this consistently creates change. The noise gets quieter. You stop performing and start listening. You finally start to hear yourself again.

You’ve tried the breathwork. You’ve done the meditation apps. You’ve talked about it over and over to anyone who will listen. You’ve intellectualized the exact root cause of your static.
And you are still vibrating out of your skin.

Have you ever stopped to think about using art to actually move the energy?

We didn’t just invent this. Humans have literally been doing this since the beginning of time. Long before we had clinical vocabulary, we were making marks to process our s**t.

The ancient Egyptians used art making in their rituals because they understood it was a direct line to spiritual and physical healing. The Greeks built entire sanctuaries dedicated to healing where art and theater were literally prescribed as medicine for the soul. Humans have been painting on cave walls, carving into stone, and using raw materials to externalize their inner chaos for millennia.

They didn’t do it because they were trying to build an aesthetic Instagram feed. They did it because they needed a release valve. They needed a physical place to put the noise.

You don’t need to be talented, and you don’t need to make a masterpiece. You just need to tap into the oldest human coping mechanism there is.

Our thoughts can get incredibly loud. It is easy to slip into a cycle of overthinking and let worry take over. When our minds start spinning, simply becoming present is often the best remedy.

When we feel stuck in anxiety, we can ground ourselves in exactly where we are. We can look around our environment and try to notice the magic in the mundane.

Paying attention to the simple details right in front of us helps quiet the internal noise. It is a practice of stepping out of fear and back into awe.
