Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who chose to invest in themselves so they could be there for the moments that matter most. ❤️

Bariatric surgery isn’t the easy way out. It’s a commitment to showing up, putting in the work, and choosing a healthier future for you and your family. Every pound lost, every walk taken, every healthy choice made is an investment in more birthdays, more adventures, and more memories with the people who matter most.

To all the fathers in our bariatric family, thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. Your dedication inspires us every day.

Here’s to stronger, healthier dads and the countless memories still to come. Happy Father’s Day! 💙

The first place most patients see the changes after bariatric surgery is in their face.
That happens because facial fat can decrease relatively early during weight loss, making features appear more defined and expressive.

Plus patients smile bigger! That’s one of my favorite parts.

I read it all the time: “Bariatric surgery is for people looking for the easy way out”.
Not. True.

Many of my patients have spent years battling obesity physically, emotionally, and mentally before ever stepping foot into my office.

The “easy way out” narrative completely ignores the complexity of obesity as a disease and minimizes the hard work patients put in every single day.

Are GLP-1 medications already becoming old news?
A few years ago, most people had never heard the words semaglutide or tirzepatide. Now we’re seeing an explosion of medications, combinations, oral versions, and next-generation obesity treatments entering the conversation almost monthly.

And honestly we’re only just getting started.
Right now, we’re starting to see several major shifts happening in obesity medicine:

• Some patients develop tolerance or reduced responsiveness over time, meaning providers may need to adjust medications, dosing, or overall treatment strategy.
• Oral GLP-1 medications are becoming more common, giving patients alternatives to weekly injections.
• Combination therapies are expanding rapidly, targeting multiple hunger and metabolic pathways at once instead of focusing on GLP-1 alone.

Which brings us to something many people haven’t heard about yet:
GLP-3 medications.
These newer therapies are being designed to target additional hormone receptors beyond traditional GLP-1 pathways, potentially improving appetite control, blood sugar regulation, energy expenditure, and weight loss outcomes even further.

In other words, obesity medicine is evolving fast.
